The first stage of the plant project undertaken by BGO Toug-gourt, a major Algerian brick manufacturer owned by Mr. Sadou-di Laid, began production in October 2016. The company now plans to build a second production line, also with a capacity of 800 tons/day of fired bricks. Both lines were commissioned from Greek company Sabo, which designed a customised layout suitable for the fairly limited space. The two production lines will make use of a shared clay preparation de-partment with a capacity of 1600 tons/day.

ments in terms of air flow and process control. The setting machine has been redesigned for use in a smaller space and adopts ro-bots for improved flexibility and functionality. The kiln car used has a width of 6.8 metres and a length of 4.2 metres and can hold 18 packs of height 1.8 metres. To achieve the contractual pro-duction capacity, a pushing time of about 12 minutes is used for B08 bricks and just under 10 minutes for B12. The kiln is more than 150 metres long to ensure that the bricks remain in the firing zone for an adequate length of time. A redesigned system is used for recovering energy from the kiln tunnel as well as from under the kiln cars and the kiln ceiling. The packaging area has also been redesigned to be able to fit in three packaging lines. Two of these are used to cre-ate strapped packs with holes for handling by forklifts, while the third will enable the cli-ent to sell products piece by piece. The plant displayed very sat-isfactory results after the first month of production, achiev-ing almost 70% of the con-tractual capacity while op-erating over just 2 of the 3 planned daily shifts. 5

Per ottenere la capacità produttiva richiesta è stato preimpostato un tempo di spinta dei carri di 12 minu-ti per i mattoni B08 e sotto i 10 minuti per i mattoni B12. Il forno ha una lunghezza di 150 metri per garantire la cor-retta cottura dei mattoni. Per assicurare una migliore eco-nomia dei consumi energeti-ci è stato previsto un innova-tivo sistema di recupero dell’e-nergia da tutte le zone del for-no (tunnel, sotto carri e volta). Il reparto di confezionamen-to è stato riprogettato per po-ter gestire tre linee di confezio-namento, due delle quali dedi-cate alla creazione di pacchi reggiati con fori per il carico su carrelli elevatori e una terza per il prodotto sfuso. Dopo il primo mese di produ-zione l’impianto ha registrato performance produttive mol-to soddisfacenti raggiungen-do quasi il 70% della capa-cità contrattuale con 2 turni giornalieri rispetto ai 3 previ-sti. 5
