Gate Valve - BH5 Series

These valves, by virtue of the venturi-type flow path, offer the combined advantages of maximum flow efficiency and ease of operation. These are meant for high pressure-high temperature applications and are available in Carbon steel and Alloy steel materials. While the stems of carbon steel valves are of 13% chromium stainless steel, those of alloy steel valves are made from 16% chromium special stainless steel, for high temperature and anti-corrosion properties. The wedges are of two piece construction held together by a pin, offering flexibility. This combined with the mirror finish lapping ensures perfect sealing and compensates for wear in the long run. These valves are provided with pressure seal (self-seal) bonnet to provide better third port seal. Thrust ball bearings enable the valve to be operated with minimum effort.

These Valves find their application in high pressure and high temperature lines where the end connections are to be made by butt-welding. It is recommended for on/off services ; and the media to be handled are water, oil, gas, steam or other non-corrosive ones.

BHEL standard valve body is designed in accordance with ASME B 16.34.

BHEL standard inside diameter is decided based on ASME B 16.34 or connecting pipe size.

BHEL standard edge preparation is in accordance with ASME B 16.25. Any other preparations, however, are also available to order.

Sealing surface on both body and bonnet is overlaid with austenitic stainless steel for freedom from rust.Differential angle at face between seal ring and bonnet is maintained for good sealing tightness. Hardness of seal ring is HB 90 (Max.).

Flexible Wedge Disc

Stem

Gland Packing

Flexible wedge (Single Piece) is standard disc type for easy and good seat tightness. Flexible wedge (two piece) : optional for sizes 6” and above.

Martensitic stainless steel with hard Chrome plating is used for carbon steel valves.Special alloy named OHTARON with hard Chrome plating is used for alloy steel valves.

Asbestos with monel wire is the standard gland packing material.Graphite packing is available in case asbestos packing is not preferred.For easy control of tightening torque at gland packing, eyebolt is used.



Mechanical StopperTo prevent over-tightening by handwheel, mechanical stopper is provided. It is adjusted before shipping from our shop.

Needle Valve

Conical seat is applied for high pressure rating valves to keep good tightness between disc and seat.

Different seating angle (1 degree) between disc and seat is maintained for good tightness.

Swivel type disc is applied for stop valves to achieve good adjustment between disc and seat.

Needle valves are selected based on pressure drop and flow parameters. While ordering for needle valves please ensure that details under point no. 15 of How to Order are given.

To prevent vibration of the disc by side force of flow, disc nut is provided on the inside surface of the body.

To prevent seizure between stem and disc at fully closed position, hard material is inserted into the bottom of the disc.

Spindle

Opening angle of 45-50 degrees is provided for quick closing due to reverse flow and for a lower pressure drop when fully opened.

Sealing mechanism through spindle is of the same construction as the one of pressure seal bonnet.

To ensure secure connection between arm and disc nut, welding to disc instead of split pin is used.

A special material named OHTARON with hard Chrome plating is used in all valves.
