The area applied for also abuts the eastern boundary of Mining Lease Application No. 1763, a CentralQueensland Coal Associates Agreement Act, 1968, granted mining lease which is held by theapplicants and down-dip of the Broadmeadow underground mine.

The total area of the Mining Lease is 8,841.9ha and Surface Area required is 4,726.6ha.

Also included with the Mining Lease application is a duly completed Coal Seam Gas LaterDevelopment Plan (Goonyella Riverside - Broadmeadow Mine amended copy) and an Application forAmendment of Environmental Authority (Mining Activities) as required under s.240 of theEnvironmental Protection Act, 1994.

A BHP Coal pty Ltd drawn cheque to the sum of $860 is enclosed, being the Mining Lease applicationfee of $149.40, Amended Initial Development Plan fee of $460.60 and the Environmental Authorityfee of $250.00.

Specific purpose mining lease(coal or oil shale) means a mininglease, other than a mining lease (coalor oil shale), granted under section234(1)(b), if the purposes for which itis granted include a purpose that isassociated with, arises from orpromotes the activity of coal or oilshale mining.

Mining lease (oil shale) means amining lease for oil shale, whether ornot the lease specifies any othermineral to be mined, and whether ornot the lease is for any additionalpurpose.

Mining lease (coal) means a mininglease for coal, whether or not thelease specifies any other mineral tobe mined, and whether or not thelease is for any additional purpose.
