Dr. Devan P.K., Prof. and Ms.K.Renugadevi., Asst. Prof.-II, filed a Patent on “Calotropis gigantea

Natural fiber yarn reinforced composite laminate for making automobile and structural compo-

nents” (Application No.201641021535) and got published in Government of India journal.

Mr.Aravindhan N., shortlisted as “Certified Master Trainer” to Train the Trainers for Founation

skills in Integrated Product Development (FSIPD) conducted by Center for Faculty

Development, Anna University NASSCOM Sector Skills Council and TEQIP – II,SPFU, Directorate of

Technical Education at P S G Technology, Coimbatore, from 19th – 23rd January 2016.

PROGRAMMES ORGANIZED BY THE DEPARTMENT

The Department of Mechanical Engineering, R.M.K. College of Engineering and Technology

organized a Fifth National Conference on Fascinating Advancements in Mechanical Engineering

(FAME 2015) on 7th March 2016. Shri. P. Veluchamy, Assistant General Manager in Mechatronics

Department at Ashok Leyland, was the Chief Guest for the function on 07.03.2016. The Department did

get encouraging response to the conference and above 100 researchers showed interest in the conference

and submitted their research papers. Out of which, 50 papers were selected by the technical committee for

presentation. Papers have been received from various specialization like Manufacturing, Thermal Sciences,

Engineering design, composite materials and nano technology.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a Two Day workshop on “I. C. Engines” on

07.03.2016 and 08.03.2016. The workshop was inaugurated by Chief Guest Mr. I. Mohammed

The students chapter of Indian Institute of Production Engineers was Inaugurated on 06-04-2016.

Dr. D. Thirunakkarasu, Prof., Former Deputy Director, Highways Research Station has been invited as

chief guest to inaugurate the IIPE –Students chapter. The professional bodies of IIPE and Mechanical

Engineering Association have conducted the Project display competition for II and III year Mechanical

Engineering students and prizes were given for the best projects.
