Why This Message

Because of the increasing reluctance to teach on sin,

repentance and spiritual darkness, most churches do not see

the need for deliverance

Due to New Age Teachings, philosophies, etc. most people are

being taught that they can deliver themselves without God or

the Holy Spirit’s intervention

Because of fanaticism and improper teachings, there are some

misconceptions and beliefs regarding the “process of

deliverance”

There is a need for the believer to understand that God wants

us delivered, free, whole, and blessed

Scriptures on Deliverance

2 Timothy 4:18 - And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and

will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and

ever. Amen.

Romans 6:17 - But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin, yet

you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were

delivered.

Psalms 40:2 - He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry

clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.

Luke 8:35: Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus,

and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the

feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.

What Does Deliverance Mean?

To draw to one's self, to rescue, to deliver

The purpose of deliverance is for God to rescue His people unto Himself

to a place of protection, safety, and well being

“To deliver out of the hands of..., to escape." This meaning illustrates God's

rescue of His people from the dominion of Satan and the world system.

Deliverance from sin, rescue from trials, and escape from the influence of a

world in the control of the evil one come only through Christ, the Son of

God

Deliverance: (Hebrew word is Peleytah = pel-ay-taw )- to set free

Deliverance

People often use the term "deliverance" as if it were

synonymous with "the casting out of demons." Indeed,

deliverance may entail casting out demons, but the

term, as used in Scripture, has a much broader

meaning and deeper significance.

Exodus 18:8-11

The meaning of "deliverance" adds the idea not only

of rescue but also of "drawing someone to one's self."

This concept shows that God's motive behind

deliverance is His fervent desire to fellowship with His

people upon whom He has set His unfathomable love.

Colossians 1:13

Defining Deliverance

Being delivered implies being transitioned or moved from one state to

another

Darkness to light

From a doomed state to a blessed state

From evil (and evil people) to goodness, truth, mercy, and Love

From bondage to freedom

Deliverance is achieved through transmittal or transmission & receiving

The spoken Word = “He spoke the Word and healed them”

Prayer of Deliverance (Psalms 143; Psalms 59

Laying on of hands (Mark 16:18; Luke 4:40; Acts 5:12; Matt 8:8)

Receiving of the gospel message/Word of God (Matt 8:8)

Submitting to the Spirit of God (James 4:7)

Basic Areas Requiring Deliverance

Sin – Leading to Salvation – the power & verdict of sin over one’s life

Ephesians 2:5: even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with

Christ (by grace you have been saved),

People may need to know and need assistance in achieving victory over sin in their life

Healing – Physical, Emotional & Spiritual

“Heal the broken heart” (Luke 4:18)

“Heal the sick” (Mark 16:18)

Dealing with Strongholds - Strongholds are incorrect & negative thinking

patterns that people develop over time, and are often set up and nurtured

by demons through lies and deception.

Areas of Deliverance

Removing Legal Rights - Legal rights are things that give demons permission

to enter and remain in our lives. Before demons can often be cast out, it is

important to address and remove these legal rights (i.e. sin, rebellion,

unforgiveness).

Grants one freedom from oppression, sin, generational curses, past failures, etc.

Casting Out Demons – Requires knowledge of your spiritual authority and

faith in that authority (Luke 10:19)

Mark 16:17 - And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall

they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Requires a spiritually disciplined lifestyle

Mark 9:28,29: And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately,

Why could not we cast him out? 29 And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by

nothing, but by prayer and fasting.

Deliverance – What is Required?

Reading/Hearing & Receiving God’s Word (Romans 10:17)

Faith & Trust in the Spoken Word/Promise of God (Matt 9:35; Matt 4:23)

Will thou be made whole? A decision must be made to receive God’s Word in

faith and desire to be released from one’s affliction/circumstance/oppression

What Hinders Thee? Repenting, Rejecting, and Renouncing sins, attitudes, &

oppressive spirits that blocks you from receiving your deliverance

“Go and Sin No more, so that nothing worse happens to you.” – Maintain your

deliverance through a redeemed and transformed lifestyle (John 5:14)

God Has Called You to Set the

Captives Free

Luke 4:18,19 - The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me

to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,

to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to

set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord

2nd Timothy 2:24:26

And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to

teach, patient,

25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure

will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who

are taken captive by him at his will.

Conclusion

God Wants You to Experience Deliverance From Sin, Sickness, and

Disease

3rd John 1:2: Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just

as your soul prospers.

2 Corinthians 2:14 - Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ,

and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.

Ephesians 3:20 - Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all

that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,

He has also empowered and commissioned you to Minister Unto

His People
