Over the past seven years our team has worked with over 20,000 students and we are passionate about broadening education beyond the classroom. Our presenters are all highly qualified consultants and business people who, when not delivering programmes in schools, work with major corporations and educational bodies like Microsoft and the Universities of Reading and Southampton, teaching management skills.

To build students’ self-confidence and inspire them to be the enterprising leaders of tomorrow

To manage and deliver hassle-free enterprise events, relieving the pressure on teachers’ time

MAKEANIMPACT

Life’s a Pitch simulates the experience of working in a marketing agency at one of the most exciting times – when pitching for a major piece of new business.

Life’s a Pitch is a fast-paced event led by business professionals, where students find themselves running their own marketing agencies and pitching for a real life account!

This interactive event brings a genuine business experience into schools. Developed by a former advertising agency MD and consultant to many marketing agencies, with input from many teachers, it has cross-curricular links with Enterprise, Citizenship, English and Business Studies.

The day can be successfully run for Y7-13 students as the structure is modified for different age groups and ability levels.

What happens in a marketing agency? The presenters provide an insight into the marketing industry and test the students’ knowledge in a game-show quiz. After a team building activity, students then set up their own marketing agencies.

Meet the brandStudents are introduced to the product they’ll be marketing. This year we’ll be working again with SUSO, the healthier carbonated juice drink which is aimed at teenagers. The students will receive a video brief from SUSO Chief Executive, Sean Uprichard who outlines his requirements and the students’ core missions

for the day.

Plan marketing campaignMarketing specialists give presentations on the core missions and the students are set a task to complete for each one:1. Advertising2. Digital marketing3. Events and sponsorship

Presentation skillsStudents are trained on presentation skills, covering body language, voice work and confidence. They practice their pitches with expert help and a timed dress rehearsal.

Live PitchThe marketing agencies compete head-to-head in the live pitch, in front of a panel of judges and their peers, to see which agency will take home the Grand Prize and who’ll be crowned the Best Individual Presenter!

‘Make it Big’ teaches students about the music industry, in an interactive, professional workshop that encourages teamwork and helps build self esteem.

Make it Big is all about the business behind the bands. This exciting day combines elements from the music industry with business. The day aims to give students an insight into this fascinating world and test their entrepreneurial skills by pitching an up and coming act to record companies to get their act signed.

This music enterprise day is a great experience for anyone interested in the music scene!

Team building tasks start the day off, then students are given an overview of the music industry, including key aspects of the business. Their knowledge of the music industry is tested in a fun quiz and they then go on to form their management companies.

Meet the bandThey are then introduced on video to the real life working band they will be managing.

It’s all about imageStudents are set a challenge to come up with a new image for the band including their logo and stage outfits.

Design the tourWe show the students a case study on how a well known band got started then we set a task: Design promotional material for the band’s first tour.

Create the music video We explain what it takes to produce a great music video. Then the task is to devise the band’s first video and storyboard it.

Getting signedWhat does it take to get a deal? How do you sell your band to top record company? The management teams have 2½ minutes in front of a major label - how are they going to persuade them to sign the act?

Time to pitchThe management team who make the best pitch will get a contract for the band. The judges decide on the most professional management team behind the act and they will win a £1million record deal. There will be prizes for the best team and the most impressive team member.

EVENT OVERVIEW

Page 5: Big Bang Boom 2017 brochure

It’s getting increasingly tough for young people to stand out in today’s marketplace so the idea behind “It’s about you!” is that students are introduced to the concept of having to market themselves – whether that is to an employer or to an educational body.

The day is especially suited to students in Years 10-13 who are considering their futures and will give some valuable advice and tools for standing out amongst their peers.

The day starts by introducing the concept of ‘branding’. The students elect a group chairperson and take part in a quiz on branding.

‘Know yourself’ brand auditStudents find out what sort of brand they are but carrying out a ‘brand audit’ on themselves.

What do employers want? The presenters then discuss the skills that are needed in the workplace. The students will then be given 3 tasks, each practicing a skill demanded by employers:

» Communication:

» Problem Solving

» Team work.

Create your own brand! The presenters discuss 3 vital features of a personal brand: Values, Strengths and Image. Students will then prepare and rehearse an ‘About you’ statement - a short, concise biography highlighting their strengths and skills.Everyone then has to present to the rest of their group and the team vote on which is best – this student becomes their ‘Team Champion’ to go to ‘The Big Interview’.

The Big InterviewThe team champions come to the stage in turn. They deliver their ‘About you’ statement and then have to answer interview questions. At the end of ‘The Big Interview’ a best interviewee is chosen.

The day concludes with a prize giving to the individual winner of ‘The Big Interview’ and in the winning team, which is decided by a final quiz testing learning from the day.
