The Service Infrastructure Challenges

Service Infrastructure

The right kind of informationInformation highly distributed

Extreme of P2P networking

Quantum computing applied to networkingNew classes of database (not just relational)

Composition of knowledge

Extended Personalisation

Very granular profilingSelf creation of services

Trends are spottedservice automatically created and deployed

Build on Existing ConceptsTrust to Reputation

The Instantaneous Bandwidth Challenges

Instantaneous Bandwidth

Network MIMOBig diversity effect Homogenised air interface

May drive industry to single dominant air interface type (over and above need for commoditisation)

The impact on the network – (delay/bandwidth)

High Bandwidth

FlexibilityInstantaneous infrastructure sharingCommercial Cognitive Radio

Networks increased situational awareness“per session/transfer” Instantaneous trading/licensing of spectrumInherent flexibility of the air interface to quantise bandwidthInherent flexibility of networks to find contiguous blocks of spectrum

Build on Existing ConceptsCore networks ability to deliver bandwidth cost effectively

The Business Model Conundrum

All this high bandwidth infrastructure must be paid for in some way

The future flexibility comes at a price

At some point we will have to consider new business models

This may have to come first before the technology can be practically deployed

Perhaps this is the biggest challenge
