The Big Data Innovation Summit brings together thought-leaders from the industry for an event acclaimed for its interactive sessions and high-level speakers. As many organizations are now working with unmanageably large data sets, the importance of using and maintaining an analytics platform which can cope with this scale of information is essential. This presents both a challenge and opportunity as organizations must identify patterns and gain actionable results in order to gain a crucial advantage over competitors. Illustrated

intermittently with case studies, interactive panel sessions and deep-dive discussions, this summit offers solutions and insight from the leaders operating in the Big Data space. Big Data Innovation will help your business understand & utilize data-driven strategies and discover what disciplines will change because of the advent of data. With a vast amount of data now available, modern businesses are faced with the challenge of storage, management, analysis, visualization, security and disruptive tools & technologies.

About The Summit

Big Data, Small Actions, Big Impact

Big Data is generated through internal transactions and external sources. Ability to use this data effectively to drive small actions by every “feet” on street (sales force) creates big impact in terms of incremental growth. Unilever Information Management journey is based on 7 founding elements leading to becoming Analytics Powerhouse. Unilever has large field operation supported by its Route to Market partners and Merchandisers. One of the business challenges is to reach large assortment to the increased number of stores. The challenge could be turned into an opportunity by use of technology and data.

Big Data, Reality Check Ahead

Big Data is a new buzzword, after the “Cloud”. But to which extent Big Data is really used in non-technology sector? Don’t we have existing issues with data to solve, before thinking of a use for Big Data concepts and tools? During this presentation we will go through real-life examples of challenges with corporate data, and discuss how Big Data principles can help resolving them (or not!).

Rahul is an IT/IM Leader with 20 years experience in FMCG business context. He is currently the IT Director - Global Route to Market at Unilever. He is responsible for developing and deploying IT solutions for the Route to Market partners and Unilever sales force. The Role of Big Data in Improving Teaching Pedagogy and Performance Evaluation

It has become obvious that current school evaluations have limitations. Many of the typical pedagogies do not offer immediate feedback to students, require hours for teachers to grade assignments, cannot show students how to improve comprehension, and fail to take advantage of digital resources that can improve the learning process.

This is unfortunate because data-driven approaches make it possible to study learning in real-time and offer systematic feedback to students and teachers.

Building Enterprise Data Strategy to Support Business

Developing enterprise data strategy is crucial to achieve company’s vision in supporting of Big Data initiatives. It is not new, a lot of organisations have been doing so for years. But many companies failed to define a successful data strategy due to wrong engagement level and wrongly defined scope. Key challenges organisations are facing to :• Companies are now exposed to big data which is

different as they used to be, there is   lack of skillsets in the organisation to work out the right data strategy

• The businesses have to adjust their processes to support data initiative

• Fail to link data strategy with company business vision , therefore fail to deliver tangible results through big data initiatives

The session will address the key challenges that enterprises are facing to for big data strategy. It will provide guidance on how to build a successful data strategy step by step.

Lois holds a Master's Degree in Computer Science from the Grenoble National Institute of Technology.

Big Data in people-centric F&B Industry

While a massive amount of data is now made available with regards to consumer expenditure and behavior, it remains a challenge for F&B industry practitioners to translate hard data into what has always been a people-centric industry. While data is made available to and analyzed by C-Level executives, findings and changes need to be communicated across the organization and implemented at the other end of the ‘C’: Crew and Cashiers. The engagement of audiences and analysis of data through Social Media platforms is also an uphill battle for Retail F&B brands in Singapore.

Big Data Analysis in Financial Services Industry (Use Cases, Opportunities and Challenges)

The financial services industry, like many others, is being flooded with data. Out of this data majority of data is unstructured. Finding ways to take advantage of new, unstructured data is the key for financial services providers to gain competitive advantages by improving consumer insight, dealing with risk, generating customer centric financial offerings, meeting regulatory challenges and improving operational efficiency.

In order to get the very best from Big Data, financial services firms are realizing the benefits of carrying out Big Data analysis much faster in an industry where speed is important in gaining a competitive advantage.

Big Data Is Data

First there were 3 vs – volume, velocity, and variation. Then we got the 4th v – verification and a fifth v – value. And the marketing gurus might come up with more vs to define and sell Big Data. All these definitions are isolating big data from businesses and CIOs alike. Based on the use cases exploration in the banking world in the last few months, the speaker strongly thinks there is more to benefit by using big data tools but treating big data as just “data”. The topic show cases how banking world can derive useful analytics by adding one v at a time to the day to day data.

Big Data and Advertising

The World-Wide advertising spend is estimated to hit 600 Billion dollars by 2016. Imagine, if every dollar spent on advertising helped to reach a consumer, who is planning to make a relevant purchase and there is no wastage of the advertising dollar. This is often believed to be an impossible Utopian marketing heaven, but big data may enable the advertising world to get closer to this ideal state.

Advertising today is perhaps at a precipice of:

• a revolution that will change the way creatives are created, selected and used

• a movement that will change how media is planned and bought

• a significant shift on how media and consumer research is conducted and analysed
