Magda Piatkowska left uni as a systems engineer to take up DBA and later various BI positions at eircom in Dublin, Ireland. She then moved from telco to the gaming industry to join Silicon Valley’s Zynga where she built an international insights and analytics team. The team specialised in real time insights delivery and developing machine learning capabilities, focusing on text mining algorithms in order to include customer feedback in product development, segmentation and recommendations. In 2013 Channel 4 brought her to London. Magda was responsible for running a data science team focused on building data products for monetisation in broadcasting. Currently she is in The Daily Telegraph transforming traditional journalism into digital, data driven business. She is also, contributing to Coppelia a machine learning and data science blog and am strongly supporting girls in rocking the world of technology!

Previously, he architected and engineered distributed computing solutions in the domain of online api-based audio/video identification. Janette graduated with a PhD in Statistics and Operational Research from Queen’s University Belfast last July. The PhD involved the development of the System Dynamics Coxian Phase-type (SD-CPh) modelling framework to investigate how the prevalence of coronary heart disease in Northern Ireland would change over a twenty-year period, and the implications this would have on primary care. She joined Cancer Research UK's Citizen Science programme as a Statistician in September. Janette is interested in the innovative way in which they are conducting medical research and canreally see the potential this could have on alleviating the bottlenecks in medical data.

Nuno Castro is a Data Scientist in the Revenue Optimisation team at Expedia Affiliate Network (Expedia, Inc). Before, he was a Data Scientist at Feedzai, where he performed R&D in big data and machine learning applied to a large scale credit card fraud detection solution, as well as developed a REST API for preventing fraud in online payments. He was also a Big Data Intern at Siemens Research in Princeton, NJ, where he implemented efficient search algorithms using Hadoop. He obtained a PhD in Computer Science and Machine Learning from the University of Minho.

Antoine Frange is currently Head of Member Insights at Zipcar, based in London. His job is simple : help the business to understand better how to turn prospects into dabblers… into members… and finally into raving enthusiasts ! Eschewing traditional analytics silos, he aims to fill in the blanks between traditional data warehousing, customer insight, and digital analytics. Before his role at Zipcar, he was running his own analytics consulting practice, and had previously led analytics efforts for digital agencies (Fortune Cookie, Possible) and in-house (Google, Sony).

Starting out his career in digital analytics and market research, and then further on to BI, Tim has built the BI and Analytics capacities of some of the most innovative enterprises and charities across three continents. He is currently the Director of Business Intelligence for Expedia’s white label and template brand. His team serves and powers the data, reporting and analytics for over 150,000 travel sites across the world and a global sales, finance and product organization. He resides in London and possesses a Bachelors of Science from Indiana University and a Masters of Arts degree from the University of Washington.

Kjersten Moody joined Unilever in June 2014 and is the Vice President for Information and Analytics. Leading a team of over 500 data professionals she is responsible for harmonizing the delivery of information management, reporting simplification, analytics at scale and master data solutions to more than 20,000 users across all of Unilever’s businesses globally. Kjersten has a successful career in the information management, software development, IT, and information security domains. She was formerly Senior Vice President, Global Technology Operations at Information Resources, Inc. (IRI) where she lead a global team responsible for enterprise IT, data centre architecture, information security, end-user computing, and corporate information. In this role, she successfully modernized IRI’s global infrastructure which delivered a 33% reduction in IT costs to the business, upgraded global end-user computing to current standards including mobile policies, and achieved ISO 27001 certification for information security. Prior to IRI, she held the position of Vice President Technology Services at Thomson Reuters where she led the modernization of the firm’s infrastructure, data warehouse, and operations for the Healthcare and Science division. As a consultant, Kjersten focused on designing and building custom software applications to meet specialized business needs for a variety of clients, primarily in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industries.
