Approach Merchants

Ask if the merchant is familiar with the Lions mission.

Request Counter space for Lions Mints, and be sure to say it will only take a small space. Look around—find a desirable spot which has visibility and accessibility. Assume a humble attitude, don’t be pushy or demanding.

Service Accounts

Always keep your candy displays filled with candy. Some will only need monthly service, while others will need service every 3–4 days in high volume places. It is not a good policy to leave too many extra mints at a site for employees to fill trays with as too much money will accumulate. If theft is suspected, seal the bottom of the tray with a sticker that would have to be broken if the tray is tampered with. This tends to deter such activity. Keep your display clean, signs should be clean and have supplier’s name and phone number on the back. Collection trays and containers should be clean, if not, switch for a clean one. Boxes sometimes collect debris—be sure dust hasn’t collected. Remember—empty Trays mean poor public relations and less help for community needs.

Take Inventory

Be sure to keep adequate supplies of mints, collection containers and price signs on hand, so you can start new accounts and so you will have plenty of mints available for a street sale or other special fundraising project.

A Candy Days fundraiser is an all-out one or two day street sale using Lion Mints. Members stand in areas of high traffic, and they exchange Lion Mints for donations. The average donation is nearly $2 per roll. Candy Days also increase counter-top sales and your Lions Club’s visibility in the community.

Lion Mint Drops are an excellent alternative to marketing rolled, and they provide many more opportunities for your Club to raise project funds. The individually wrapped mints come in two flavors: Peppermint & Wintergreen. They are imprinted with the Lions logo just like the rolled mints and come in the following quantities: 1 case contains 6 individual boxes of 750 pieces each for a total of 4,500 pieces. Sell Lion Mint Drops the traditional way with an attractive acrylic display.

Sell Lion Mint Drops directly to businesses who typically have candy dishes for their customers and clients - restaurants, hotels, attorneys and funeral homes.

Sell Lion Mint Drops to businesses by the box (750 Pieces) or the case (4,500 Pieces). If you market Lion Mint Drops for 3 to 4 cents each, they are normally less expensive than the candy that many businesses already provide to their customers. So, why wouldn’t businesses use Lion Mints Drops as a way to support your Lions Club and your community?

Educate People

Form a relationship with business owners and their employees. Tell

them about Lions and the things your Club does for the community – glasses, hearing aids, youth programs (baseball teams, swim teams and band camps). People will be more inclined to monitor the mint displays for you, and it is a great way to recruit new members for your Lions Club.

Stay Visible Get magnetic car signs made for the Lion Mints Delivery Team. It provides good visibility and awareness

of your Lion Mint Program, and it establishes your Lions Club’s presence in the community. Dress appropriately when you visit businesses - the image you present is important.
