ALASKA
Overview of TripAlaska, US, Northwestern Region,
Denali National/State park and Kenai Peninsula Wildlife Refuge
Transportation: We will fly Anchorage, and from there we will get passenger vans for driving. Once in the park we may have to use park transport buses which are free.
Length: Either 7 or 10 days.
Estimate approximate cost:$1200 per person, without money from the troop.
Why Alaska?Alaska is known for America’s final frontier.Denali is home to the tallest mountain in
North America, Mt. McKinley, standing at 20,320 feet.
We will have an opportunity to see the big five: Grizzly Bears, Moose, Elk, Dall Sheep and Wolves.
Alaska is a beautiful place, with purple mountains and aqua colored glaciers.
Some merit badges that can be worked on during this trip are requirements in Hiking, Whitewater, and Horsemanship.
ActivitiesRafting: We will raft on the Six Mile Creek on
the Kenai Peninsula, which is class IV to V.Horseback: We take a 2 hour trip on the
Kenai Peninsula where we will witness breathtaking views.
Hiking: There is multiple hikes anywhere from 1 to 7 miles. We will hike on glaciers and through forests both in Denali and in the Kenai Fjords.
Wildlife: We will visit places where the best animal viewing occurs either by bus or car.

Northern Alaska, and Southern Alaska, about 5 days in each.

North Campsite:
Savage River Campground in Denali National Park
(Most Parks are free) Reservations KEY(bathrooms/facilities) and car accesible.
Denali Park and Mt. McKinley!!!
Day trip on bus
Goes from entrance of park through Denali all kinds of animals views you can get out where ever you want
White Water Rafting!!!Six Mile River on Kenai Peninsula, or Lions Head
in Talkeetna

South Campsite: Quartz Creek Campground
This campground is in Cooper’s Landing
It has drinking water, fire pits, flush toilets and more
It also has a great view of Kenai Lake
FishingWe would go the Drifter’s Lodge in Cooper’s
Landing and it is near our south camp too
They have fishing trips with guides and all the gear we would need to fish
The fish we could catch are Rainbow Trout, King Salmon, Red Salmon, Silver Salmon and Dolly Varden
Panning for GoldWe would pan for gold at Alaska Horsemen Trail
Adventures
They would bring the gravel to us at their building to pan through
Only 1 minute from the south camp
