bike light 2

Work Project
Bike LightI thought of a few ideas at home for a lamp utilizing bike parts. I showed my
ideas to Greg, who let me create my ideas for real.
Initial Ideas/ Drawings
Firstly I made an axle out of tubing to hold the shade in-between the forks. I made it out of hollow tubes so that the wire can run through it. I also added nuts on the ends so that the position of the shade can be changed by undoing them using your hands.
I then used a long hollow bolt to connect the forks to the base and packed out any gaps with spacers. I then drilled a hole in the base so that the wire has somewhere to come out. I used a hollow bolt/ tube again to let the wire go up through the forks. I then attached cord grips on the ends of each opening in which the wire would come out of.
The build
Wiring
This is the outcome of building what I designed on paper. It came out very well, almost exactly as I planed. Although there were a couple of elements that proved difficult;
• The quick release • Creating a sturdy base
The first outcome
The upgrade; Ideas/ drawingsAfter talking to Greg and highlighting some of the problems with my design we decided
to upgrade the lamp.
