Over the past week we have had Lachlan Starr be nominated as a finalist in the ‘My Moree’ photographic competition for his portrayal of the difficult times that our community is going through at the moment with the drought. He also had his brumby silhouette that was nominated as a finalist in the ‘Head On’ photographic competition earlier in the year. Lachlan’s photo has made it from Bingara to Beijing and will be on display in the international exhibition, ‘The World in the Eyes of Youth’. On Monday, I also received some great news in relation to a Year 1 student. Luka Barac was presented with the NAIDOC Medal of Excellence for his colouring-in activity that was of a beautiful dolphin. Luka was among 1000s of entries and he is the recipient of one of the twenty medals awarded to students from across the state. As I do every year, I look forward to hearing the speeches of our future leaders for 2020, and of course being a part of your journey. Having the courage to publically stand and inspire your peers to have trust in your abilities as a leader and share the voice of your cohort is an amazing opportunity. I just want to end with an acknowledgement of the achievements that are coming from our small school over the past year both sporting and academic. They are truly astounding. It really shows that from little things, big things can grow. As long as you are willing to follow your passion, accept the challenge and seek support along the way. STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS

I love informing our school community of the many great achievements of our students. SECONDARY NEWS

Best of Luck to our Students at CHS State Rugby 7’s Finals We wish our five students attending the CHS State Rugby 7's carnival early next week the best of luck when they come head to head against some of the best schools in the State. Leilani Tevaga, Brooke McKinnon and Isabelle Butler will join with Warialda High School's U15 Girls team, the Jammers, fresh off their strong outing at the Regional competition in Armidale. The girls will look to improve on their already impressive Rugby Union resume this year, with some strong performances across the State and beyond.

William Johnson, Campbell Bond and the Warialda U17 Boys will be keen to stamp their authority on the competition after narrowly falling short in the regional grand final, but being offered a wildcard entry to the State Finals. Campbell, will no doubt be in fine form after his recent win for the Gwydir/Barraba Under 19 squad in their grand final against Walcha. Will's limited experience has not curbed his enthusiasm for the new sport, instead applying his Rugby League skills to the game and has be-come a key member of the squad.

We look forward to reporting on the efforts of our students next week!

Mr Eastcott Secondary Sports Coordinator

From Bingara to Beijing Congratulations Lachlan Starr As a finalist of the ‘Head On’ Student Prize 2019, Lachlan’s work has been selected for inclusion in the interna-tional ‘The World in the Eyes of Youth’ exhibition to be shown in Beijing. Winners will be offered an all inclusive trip to China during Photo Beijing 2019.

This is an outstanding achievement and we wish Lachlan all the best!
