bintec WLAN ControllerOverview
Designed for the requirements of organization with up to 100 employees
Suitable for installation from 2 to 24 Access Points
The installation of a new Wireless network must be possible without special training of the administrator.
The Wireless network must be support seamless hand-over for VoWifi phones. The network must be “Voice Ready”.
bintec WLAN Controller Target definition
The WLAN Controller requires no dedicated hardware or a server.
For up to 6 APs the WLAN Controller license is running a Master-AP
For 7-24 APs a bintec R1202 router is required a controller hardware.
The WLAN Controller infrastructure requires a DHCP server. The functionality of the DHCP server can provide by the WLAN Controller or via an external DHCP server (i.e. Microsoft Server 2008)

Simple wizard based quick installation allow the installation in only five steps.
Automatic detection and installation of new access points.
Frequency management with automatic channel management
VLAN and Multi-SSID support
Any configuration changing, i. e. the adding of a new SSID, and the setup of the new configuration to all access points requires only a few clicks and is in a few seconds done.
Configuration management, the configuration are stored central at the WLAN controller. In case of power lost the WLAN controller distribute the configuration automatically after the power up.
The monitor support the detection of Neighbor AP und the supervision of clients.
Automatic firmware rollout for all managed access points.

The APs have now a channel definition and the units are managed.
Functionality of the license
The WLAN Controller functionality is available at each R-Serie, W-Serie and WI-Serie with software release 7.9.6 or higher and requires a license.
Up to 6 APs are manageable from one of the Access Points (Master-AP). No dedicated hardware for the controller is required. The Master-AP required the WLAN controller licenses.
If the network contain more than 6 APs, a bintec router i.e. R1202 is required as WLAN controller.
The Slave APs requires no license, but a software release 7.9.6 or higher.
Without WLAN controller license only one AP is manageable. This enables the customer to testing the WLAN controller free of charge.
License
To keep the numbers of different part numbers small only a license for 6 Access Points is available
For the W-Series and the WI-Series only one license are possible to install to support up to 6 Access Points
For the R-Series only up to 4 license are possible to install to support up to 24 Access Points
