Jane Davies OBE President of the Advisory Council of the International Association of Science Parks Jane Davies has an MA in Chemistry from the University of Oxford and was Chief Executive of Manchester Science Parks (msp) from October 2000 until June 2012. She joined BP on graduation and spent 18 years in that company, working in a variety of roles including as an oil trader in New York and on secondment to the UK Foreign Office. Her second career was as General Manager of the Buxton Opera Festival and she was appointed Chief Executive of msp in 2000. During her time at msp she expanded its operations onto four sites in Greater Manchester and invested in people and processes to strengthen

its support for the local innovation eco-system. As the role of msp as an engine of growth for the knowledge economy became increasingly recognised by local government, she joined the boards of several economic development initiatives within the city and was appointed chairman of the Manchester Innovation Group which oversaw all innovation activity across the city region. Mrs Davies was Chairman of the UK Science Park Association from 2007-9 and President of the Advisory Council of the International Association of Science Parks from 2009 – 2013. In February 2013 she joined the board of the Northern Ireland Science Park as a non-executive director. She now works as an independent consultant, applying her expertise in the development and management of science parks and the contribution of innovation to economic activity. Recently she has been involved in projects in Auckland and Christchurch, New Zealand and for the World Bank in Kuwait as well as in the UK. In 2011 she was honoured by the Queen of England by the award of an OBE for her services to innovation

Luis Sanz Director General of the International Association of Science Parks Luis Sanz (Spain, 1952) is Director General of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation since 1996, and member of its Executive Board. A trained sociologist, he is an expert consultant and senior adviser to different Science Parks worldwide and chief co-ordinator of over 30 international conferences on Science and Technology Parks, regional development and innovation policies. He is author of numerous papers, books, articles and presentations on

this topic and has participated as invited speaker in over 95 international conferences and seminars all over the world. Formerly he was the co-director of Valencia Technology Park (Spain) which he founded in 1987 and as positions of trust he has been Vice-President of the Spanish Association of Science Parks and President of the European Division of the IASP. Luis Sanz is also the head co-ordinator of the World Alliance for innovation (WAINOVA).

Enzo Moi Managing Director of AREA Science Park, Italy After a degree in Political Sciences at Padua University he started his career as a researcher in Economic Science at Venice University. In 1978 he joined Confindustria (the main Italian entrepreneurial organization, representing manufacturing and services companies), dealing with Economic studies, planning and management, up to the position of Deputy Director. From April 1996 to February 2010 he become the Managing Director of Veneto Innovazione (the Veneto regional government in-house agency for applied research, innovation and technology transfer), planning research and innovation strategies for the Veneto Region and working with the VEGA Park (one of the most important Science and Technology Parks in Italy).

Since 1998 he is member of the Board of Directors of APSTI (the Italian Association of Science and Technology Parks). Since March 2010 he is Managing Director of AREA Science Park the leading Science and Technology Park in Italy.

Ufuk Batum Vice President of the Science and Technology of the Middle East Technical University, Turkey Ufuk Batum (Ankara, 1967) is an educator, a mentor, a consultant, a columnist, senior member of various management teams, a key-note speaker, and an NGO leader. He received his B.Sc. degree in mechanical engineering from Bosphorus University in Istanbul and his graduate studies in business and management in Clemson University, USA. Besides his academic career, he has been working for the last 25 years both in the private sector and public sector institutions in various countries, namely in the USA, France, Italy, Turkey, Pakistan, Iran, Egypt, Azerbaijan. He has served in various industries such as aviation,

education, trade, telecommunications, and technology, in positions ranging from director to CEO and founder. Mr Batum has written many articles and columns for national newspapers and magazines and is the author of four books. He delivers seminars, speeches and training programs in order to support young entrepreneurs and develop institutional capacity. He is also a well-known mentor for technology based start-ups helping them to commercialize and internationalize their products and services portfolio. In addition, he advises several national and international institutions, such as TI, NATO, TIM, TUBITAK and chambers of commerce and industry. He currently teaches an Entrepreneurship courses at the Middle East Technical University (METU) in Ankara and acts as the Vice President of the Science and Technology Park of the university (METUTECH).

Kazimierz Murzyn Managing Director of LifeScience Krakow cluster, Poland Mr Murzyn is the managing director of LifeScience Krakow cluster initiative and President of its Foundation. He is the vice president of Global Innovation Network Inc. in North Carolina, USA, member of Biotechnology Committee of the Polish Academy of Science, and member of the Working Group for Cluster Policy in Poland. Mr Murzyn is currently preparing a PhD in Kozminski University in Warsaw on “Valuation of innovation capability of life science clusters with use of methods of System’s Dynamics”. He holds a Master’s Degree from the Technical University in Krakow (1987) and the Diploma of First Polish–

American Business School in Krakow (1991). His additional education includes a Mini-MBA™ in Global BioPharma Entrepreneurship at Rutgers University, USA (2010) and several trainings such as: Solving Complex Business Problems, Systems Dynamics at Sloan Business School, MIT (2006), and Systems Thinking Approach To Strategy Development and Implementation, Centre for Strategic Management, San Diego, USA (2003). Mr Murzyn has knowledge and working expertise in the development of cluster strategies and management of cluster’s activities, technology transfer, innovation management, business internationalization, business strategy and business development, and organizational learning. He Has proficiency in application of systems thinking and systems dynamics to modelling and solving complex problems, organizational development and strategic management, scenario planning as well as in application of creative thinking.

Nizar Al-Halasah Innovation Consultant at United Nations–Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Technology Centre Nizar Al-Halasah is an Innovation Consultant at the UNESCWA- Technology Centre through memorandum of agreement between UN ESCWA and the Royal Scientific Society of Jordan since May 1, 2011. He is an experienced engineer with a proven track record in economic development and SMEs support, and help in creating entrepreneurial enterprises: expertise in innovation management, intellectual property, commercialization, and business incubation. He has more than 20 years of professional experience in establishing entrepreneurial links between

research institutions and industry and relevant programs. He has more than 8 years of experience in the field of development and support of innovation of startup projects and SMEs, including innovation policy, innovative industrial processes and their applications in the industrial environments. He published papers in international journals and conferences in the areas of: Innovation, intellectual Property, and Water Resources. He received his M.sc. and B. Sc. in Civil Engineering from University of Jordan.

Zile Soilihi Director of Innovation and Growth at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Marseille, France Dr. Zile Soilihi is an international lecturer specialised in innovation and technopolitan approaches. He is the director of Innovation and Growth at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Marseille, former Director of the Mediterranean Innovation Center (CIMED), and the Secretary General of the Mediterranean Network of engineering schools. In his current role, he leads operations to support innovation, the use of ICT in economic intelligence, and the development of enterprises and networks at a national and international level. He coordinated the strategy

of development of Technopark Sfax. He is also a member of the Executive Committee of Henri Fabre project to build the extended factory of the future in Provence Alpes Cotes d'Azur. Previously, Dr. Soilihi held various management positions in Large Industrial Groups such as Thales, Oracle. He Graduated from the Ecole Centrale de Marseille, and a PhD in Mathematics. Bahrain

Mohammed Allam AL-Qaed Manager at Bahrain Business Incubator Center, Bahrain Mr Allam is an experienced and certified trainer in Business Incubation Management. He has joined Bahrain Business Incubator Center (BBIC) the subsidiary of Bahrain Development Bank (BDB) in 2007. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Bahrain and an International Diploma in Management and Leadership from the Chartered Management Institute (UK). Besides heading the BBIC, Mohammad is a founding member of the new business incubators in the kingdom of Bahrain. Mohammad is contributing in the design and establishment of the Bahrain University Incubator Center, Women incubator Center, ICT Incubator Center and another

upcoming business incubator in the kingdom. Mohammad is actively involved in many Business Incubators and Entrepreneurship related activities in the MENA region and internationally. Mohammad Have delivered many training related to SME's development and Business Incubation Management. Besides, he is a certified trainer by the World Bank to deliver the infoDev Business Incubation Management training. He is a board member and coordinator of the Middle East and North Africa Incubators Network, "SPICE" member of the Science Park and Innovation Center Experts Group in Germany and a member of the Chartered Management Institute in the UK.

Egypt

Adel Danish chairman and CEO of Smart Villages Company, Egypt Dr. Danish is the chairman and CEO of Smart Villages Company. He began his career as a researcher at the IBM Scientific Center in Paris, France. He then founded and co-founded several companies in the IT field in Egypt, France and the USA. He is also the author and co-author of several European and American patents in the areas of telecommunications and information technology. He has been a board member of several companies: Telecom Egypt (2000-2012), Egypt-US Business Council (2002-2008), Conseil Presidentiel France Egypte pour les Affaires (2010-2013), and Board of

Trustees of the French University in Egypt (since 1998). He has been the Chairman and CEO of Xceed (2001-2013), the Chairman of the Advisory Board of the school of Business at the American University in Cairo (2010-2012), a president of the Club d’Affaires Franco Egyptien of the French Chamber of Commerce (1996-1997). He has received the award of “chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite” in 2000.

Essam Khamis Ibrahim Al-Hanash Director of City of Scientific Research & Technological Applications, Egypt Dr AlHanash is the Director of City of Scientific Research & Technological Applications (SRTA-City) Alexandria, Egypt. He is professor of Electrochemistry & Corrosion since 1996, former vice President of Alexandria University for Graduate Studies & Research Affairs, and has been professor of Chemistry in King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (1993-2001) He graduated in Chemistry from Alexandria University in 1978 (First Class Honors), obtained his M.Sc in Corrosion at the Alexandria University in 1982, and acquired his Ph.D in Corrosion Chemistry in a joint supervision

between Alexandria University and the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) in 1985. He did his postdoctoral studies at the Material Science & Engineering Department, in H.H. Uhlig Corrosion Laboratory, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1988/1989) and continued as a Research Staff at the Corrosion & Protection Center from 1990 to 1992 in UMIST. Dr AlHanash is the Editor-in-Chief of "International Journal of Applied Chemistry" since 2004. He is a member of the advisory editorial board of four scientific national & international journals. Besides, he is a chartered chemist (CChem) and member of several scientific societies. He has received several fellowships to work or visit several institutions in the UK, USA, and some Arab countries and was awarded 13 Awards and Plaques. He supervised about 30 M.Sc & Ph.D students and trained a large number of students. AlHanash has over 95 of high quality publications in refereed cited indexed journals, chapters in books and conference proceedings. He is the Principal Investigator & Co PI of 17 research projects funded from National and International organizations.

Jordan

Serene Duwayri Manager at iPARK Technology Hub, El Hassan Science City, Jordan Serene Duwayri was educated in Jordan, Italy, USA and UK. She has a Masters of Business Administration from Lancaster University and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Jordan. Serene has solid professional experience and in-depth knowledge in the fields of entrepreneurship development, financial advisory, management and strategy consulting, and business development. Her work experience covers private, public and third sectors, on local, regional and international arenas. Ms. Duwayri has advised financial investors and strategic decision makers

in domestic and cross-border alliances and operations in a range of industries including high-value added, financial, defense, manufacturing and service industries. Additionally, she has led the development and implementation of several projects for national and multinational companies covering various disciplines including organizational development, cultural transformation, innovation, business strategies, supply chain, and operational development. Recently, Serene has been undertaking financial and consulting advisory roles with various corporate and consulting firms in Jordan.

Reham Gharbiyeh CEO of Al Urdonia Lil Ebda Reham Gharbiyeh is CEO of Al Urdonia Lil Ebda ( Jordanian for creativity ) which manages five business incubation centers and run three business development offices in seven governorate in Jordan. She is a Board member of Asia Science Park Association (ASPA) -Korea and director of ASPA west Asia, head office Jordan. She also a Board member of MenaInc/infodev World Bank regional network, and an accredited European expert in ECBIC quality criteria. Reham is certified InfoDev trainer and country manager of SHAAMS a

renewable energy project funded by ENPI CBC MED –EU. Educated in Jordan, she obtained several training in field of innovation and SMEs development from Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education, US department of state – International visitors’ leaders program and several European programs.

Lebanon

Hani Mawlawi Director of Lebanon Science and Technology Park (LSTP), Lebanon Hani Mawlawi has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the American University of Beirut and a master degree in Computer Science from Boston University. He has over 17 years of experience in software development/project and program management in various industries including air travel, telecom, e-Government, education and entrepreneurship. His professional experience was obtained while working in companies of various sizes (startup, medium-sized and large) in various locations including North America and the Middle East. He worked for nine years in the Air Travel industry in Canada (1998 -

2006) before moving back to Lebanon where he took a challenging position to manage a startup telecom software company MobiNetS in his home city Tripoli. During his time at MobiNetS, he led the company growth from 4 employees to 25 employees within two years and played a key role in overcoming challenges faced by startup companies. In 2010, Hani took another challenging position as Senior Systems Implementation Manager at Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Center, where he managed various eGovernment projects and programs including Abu Dhabi Portal eServices program. Mr mawlawi took on a number of assignments and consulted for a number of educational institutions; he played a leading role in improving and executing adopted policies and procedures, refining and executing the schools strategic action plan and the overall business plans for all units. Currently, Mr Mawlawi is the director of the recently established Lebanon Science and Technology Park (LSTP), where he oversees whatever it takes to successfully launch and coordinate all the support programs offered by LSTP to researchers, entrepreneurs and potential park tenants. Libya

Mohamed Ahmed Alaswad Science, technology & innovation policies advisor for the Libyan government, Libya Mr Alaswad (Gherian, 1957) is currently an advisor for the Libyan government in Science, technology & innovation policies. In the past he worked in a variety of roles including in the Libyan public sector in the field of energy, industry, and technical & vocational education. Mr Alaswad was deputy minister for Education and Scientific research and a Libyan ambassador to UNESCO. Besides, he is the founder of the Libyan Incubator for technology & innovation and the national Libyan SME’s program.

Mr Alaswad holds an engineering degree from the University of Tripoli (1981), and has undertaken during the last four years a number of executive education programs in the field of Science, Technology, and Innovation strategies & policies (MIT Executive Education Program, Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education Program, Twente University, Manchester and IMD). He is member of several national committees including for the Libyan innovation initiative, the national strategy for science, technology & innovation, the SME’s national strategy, the Libyan Science park, and the Libyan vision 2030 policies planning committee.

Khaled El Zaidi Director of Strategic Planning & Development in Libya Enterprise, Libya Mr Khaled El Zaidi is the Director of Strategic Planning and Development in Libya Enterprise part of the Libyan National SME Program. He has an experience of over 25 years in the field of Management, Marketing, Trading and Business Development. During the last five years he focused on business incubation, start-up coaching, mentoring and consulting. He was also involved in the setting-up of the Business Incubators program & SME’s support of Libya. He was a

business development consultant for start-ups and SME's and a manager of the Tripoli Business Incubator & Center. Mr. El Zaidi contributed to the national effort to support entrepreneurship and innovation and is a member of the high committee of Libyan entrepreneurship Prize (2012-2013). Palestine

Hasan H. Omar Director of the Palestine Business & Innovation Centre, Palestinian Territory Mr Omar is the Director of the Palestine ICT Incubator (PICTI) and the Palestine Business & Innovation Centre (BIC). He is an expert in entrepreneurship, innovation, ICT4D and business incubation. Mr Omar assessed more than 1000 business ideas and ICT projects and is a member of many local and regional jury panels. He has extensive experience in providing technical, business, marketing advisory, mentoring and coaching services to hundreds of high-growth start-ups and SMEs. He is also a Medibtikar Innovation Expert and a certified trainer

to incubators’ managers (Business Incubation Management – BIM) by the infoDev - World Bank. He is a board member and a member in many associations and related communities such as ISOC-Palestine Chapter, the Canadian Professional Engineers Association, NBIA, MENA Incubators Network (MENAinc), YEN Marketplace and others. Mr Omar holds a Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering from Jordan University of Science & Technology (1995) and a Master Degree in International Cooperation and Development from Bethlehem University.

Tunisia

Neila Nouira Gongi CEO of the Competitiveness Cluster of Monastir-El Fejja, Tunisia Ms. Neila Nouira Gongi is CEO of mfcpole “Pôle de Compétitivité Monastir-El Fejja” since 2006 and the chairman of Tunisia Technoparks association initiated in 2013. She graduated from the National School of Administration in "Economics Advisor/Public Services". She has an experience of 26 years within the Ministry of Industry and was The General Director of Industrial strategies from 2003 to 2006, and Director of External Relations and cooperation from 1995 to 2003. Ms Gongi has a significant experience in implementing industrial

development strategies. Her last position as CEO of mfcpole allowed her to acquire specific know how on Technoparks, clusters governance, and management mainly under the private public partnership model.

Hichem Turki CEO of the Competitiveness Cluster of Sousse (SPCS), Tunisia

Hichem Turki (1962, Sfax) is an engineer graduate from “l’Ecole National des Ponts et Chaussées” (ENPC Paris - France) in 1986. He held several positions of responsibility and technical R&D in several French companies (Elf Aquitaine) and Tunisian one’s (Chemical Group, EMS a subsidiary of Carnaut Metal Box, etc.) before joining the company STRATEGE as a senior consultant in Strategy and business Development including support for international companies in Tunisia.

Hichem Turki was, for 13 years, the Chairman and CEO of SOMATRAL group specialized in manufacturing and marketing Mattresses and Bedding in the

Italian brand “PERMAFLEX”. Since 2009 he is the CEO of the Competitiveness Pole of Sousse "SPCS" whose mission is to develop, to market, to animate, and to manage:

-The Technopark of Sousse (50 ha) specialized in Mecatronic (Computer, Electronics and Mechanics), including the National Engineering School of Sousse "ENISo", the Research Center in nanotechnology and microelectronics, the incubator of companies specialized in mecatronic and the mecatronic Cluster Tunisia.

-An Off Shoring area in Sousse (40 ha) reserved for service activities (Information Technology & Outsourcing (ITO), Buisness Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Information & Communication Technology (ICT)).

-And an industrial area in Enfidha (142 ha) for all plants clean production.

SPCS is a Public Private Partnership that aims to create an environment conducive to the development of investment in sectors with high added value by reconciling Higher Education, Research, and Industry in the field of Mecatronic.

Nejib Abida CEO of Sfax Technopole, Tunisia Mr. Nejib Abida is the Chef Executive Officer of Sfax Technopark Company since September 2011. By training he is an engineer in computer science from the Technical University of Budapest, and holds an MBA from Maryland University, USA. Currently Mr Abida is in the board of directors of the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP), and is also the secretary general of the Tunisian Technopark Association and vice president of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for Sfax division. He started his career as a research engineer in Tunis from

1986 to 2002 when he joined Elgazala technopark as a manager of communication and international cooperation from 2002 to 2011.

Noureddine Bouzouaya CEO of BiotechPole Sidi Thabet, Tunisia Prof. Bouzouaya (1952, Tunis) is a Doctor of state in medicine (1980) specialized in Internal Medicine-Infectious Diseases (1983). He was a senior lecturer in infectious diseases (1991) and a professor in the same specialty (1997). Since 1984 he has held several functions including teaching positions at the Faculty of Medicine of Tunis, head of the Department of Infectious Diseases at the CUH of Monastir, and member or president of several technical committees and commissions. In October 2002 he was appointed Director of the Higher School of health Sciences and Techniques of Monastir before being appointed in June 2005 as General Director of Health, a position he held until his appointment in

March 2008 as C.E.O of BiotechPole Sidi Thabet. Author of numerous monographs, scientific publications in national and international magazines and other national reports in the fields of antibiotics and infectious and communicable diseases, Mr Bouzouaya is a member of the Laboratory for Research on the resistance to the antibiotics. He is a clinician - investigator expert in infectious diseases and a consultant for planning strategies to control and fight some infectious and communicable diseases. He is a member of many learned societies and associations and has chaired several boards. As CEO of BiotechPole Sidi Thabet, Prof. Noureddine Bouzouaya participates to set-up many partnerships between domestic, foreign industrialists and investors as well as to build-up collaborations with many universities, research centres and laboratories in Tunisia and abroad.

Fahmi Chelly General director of Elgazala Technopark, Tunisia Fahmi Chelly (Sfax, 1964) graduated in Electrical Engineering from the National School of Engineering of Sfax (ENIS) in 1998. He is currently managing Elgazala Technopark focusing on a long term strategy to develop the Technopark and all its components, and aiming to develop entrepreneurship programs and Spin off creation via the establishment of channels of communication between academia and industry. He has been working for more than 20 years in the Telecommunication Research and Studies Centre (CERT) in which he has carried out many responsibilities: Director of Research and Technology Watch; project

manager of EMC and LV laboratories; head of the Access Networks Engineering Division; chief of the Unit for Space Technologies; chief of Service of Standardization and Expertise; chef of Service for acceptance testing of transmission systems and cables. At international level he has been appointed for two years as Program Director of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) in Iraq within the famous United Nations Oil for Food Programme, in charge of the telecommunication Sector (7/2000 – 7/2002) . Fahmi CHELLY is alsoa member of the Tunisian Association of Technoparks “ATT”, the African Coordinator of the Joint Expert Group "JEG8" of the Eighth strategic partnership between Africa and the European Union on Science, Information Society and Space, a Honorific Member of the Innovation & Research Development Association “ADRI”, former Reporter in the Study groups 1 and 2 of ITU-Development Bureau, and member of the Tunisian Association for the Telecommunication Universal Service

Abdelwahed GHORBEL President of the Association of Borj-Cedria Technopark Prof. Abdelwahed Ghorbel is the President of the Association of Borj-Cedria Technopark. He was a Professor in Plant Biotechnology at the National Institute of Scientific and Technical Research in Tunisia between 1986 and 2005 and was then nominated as Director General of the Centre of Biotechnology at the technoparc of Borj-Cedria between 2005 and 2011. Prof. Ghorbel obtained a state Doctorate in Experimental Sciences (1985) from Rouen University prior to joining the Borj-Cedria Technopark. He is member of various administration boards and committees such as the

National committee for Agricultural Research Decennial Evaluation (1999-2009). Between 2000 and 2010 he was nominated as Vice-President of the Tunisian Association of Biotechnology and General Secretary of the Association for the Preservation of Kerkena environment. Abderrafie Hanouf CEO at MEDZ Sourcing, Morocco Abderrafie Hanouf graduated from the Mohammedia School of Engineering in automation and industrial computer science. He completed different training programmes in management, marketing and finance. He is known for his expertise in Information Technology, Innovation engineering, outsourcing, incubation and business parks management. Passionate about new technologies, M. Hanouf led a number of market studies in the IT sector. He is an active member of many related Moroccan federations. With more than 25 years’ experience, Mr Hanouf occupied several positions in engineering within S3I (International Company of Engineering in Computer Science) and

Digital Equipment Corporation, before he founded Digitem Inc. a representative of Digital Equipment in Morocco. In 2003, he was requested to restructure Casablanca Technopark and launched the first incubation project in Morocco in close partnership with the World Bank. Leveraging on this large experience, in 2007, he joined CDG Group, Morocco’s largest institutional investor with over $12 Billion of assets, to launch and develop Technopolis Business Park. In 2010, he was appointed CEO at MEDZ Sourcing, CDG’s subsidiary, in charge of developing, promoting and managing a network of business parks dedicated to the outsourcing industry with over 500.000sqm of ready to output office space, facilities and proximity services. MEDZ Sourcing is at the heart of Morocco’s outsourcing development strategy and was granted the Award of Best Offshoring destination in 2012 by the EOA (European Outsourcing Association). In 2013, MedZ Sourcing widened its scope to include all industrial and technology parks of CDG in the Kingdom of Morocco, summing up to over 1200 acres of managed assets, through more than 15 parks.

Mohamed Ghassane Bouhia Director Casanearshore park, Morocco Mr Bouhia graduated in electrical engineering from Montana State University (2000). He holds a master's degree in Economics and International Relations from Johns Hopkins University (2002) and an MBA from “Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées de Paris - Ecole Hassania des Travaux Publics (2008). He has an experience of more than 10 years in the construction and management of residential and industrial real estate projects. He joined the Caisse de Depot et de Gestion (CDG) Group in 2012 as director of the Atlantic Park Free Zone before being appointed director of Casanearshore park in March 2013.

Abdelaziz Benjouad Vice-president in charge of R&D at Université Internationale de Rabat (IUR), Morocco Dr Benjouad is Doctor ès Sciences from University Mohammed V-Agdal, and a university professor. He has 25 years of experience in research, valorisation and research training. In 2013 he took on the role of Vice President of Research and Development at the International University of Rabat, the first Moroccan university based on a public-private partnership. From 2011 to 2013 he assured the management of the National Centre for Scientific and Technical Research (CNRST) as well as its IP and scientific department (2009-2013).

He was director of the research laboratory and the doctoral training at the University Mohammed V-Agdal (2000-2009) and coordinator of the Committee for Scientific Research and Cooperation within the board of the institution. He also assumed the responsibility of the valorisation structure of the institution. He is the author of a hundred of publications and patents and has created the first start-up biotechnology. He was also a researcher in Paris for ten years (Pasteur Institute, Hospital de la Pitie-Salpetriere, CNRS, and INSERM). He is Chairman of the jury LOréal-UNESCO For Women in Science (national grants) since 2009 and a member of several scientific societies. earch was conducted as part of 15 projects and contracts.

Amine Bensaid President of Mundiapolis University in Casablanca, Morocco Amine Bensaid is President of Mundiapolis University in Casablanca. He holds a BS in Information Systems, an MS in Computer Engineering and a Ph.D. in Computer Science & Engineering from the University of South Florida (USF). He has held research positions at USF (90-94) and at the Technical University of Delft (1995). He was a computer science faculty member at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane (AUI) from 1995 to 2009. In 1999, he was a Visiting Professor at the School of Computer Science at CarnegieMellonUniversity. As a computer scientist, his research interests, publications, funding and industrial consulting have been in the areas of intelligent systems, data mining and Arabic computing. He was an

Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics from 1999 to 2010. From 2001 to 2007, Amine served as Dean of AUI's School of Science & Engineering. From 2007 to 2009, he was Vice-President at AUI in charge of academic affairs and research. Between 2009 and 2011, he was the Principal at Fondation RMA-Watanya developing a new (private and non-profit) technical university on the U.S. model in Morocco. He currently sits on the board of the Moroccan-American Commission (who administers the Fulbright program in Morocco), of Université Mohamed V – Souissi, of the Moroccan Fulbright Alumni Association (which he chaired 2009-2011), and of Anwaar (an association that promotes liberal arts education among Moroccan university students), and he’s a member of the Research & Industrial Innovation Commission of FENELEC (Fédération Nationale de l’Electricité, de l’Electronique et des Energies Renouvelables). He served as an expert on university quality assurance with the UNDP (2002-2005) and UNESCO (2011), as an advisor (2009-2011) to the CEO of MAScIR (a national foundation devoted to science & technology research as an instrument for economic development in Morocco), as General Chair of the 2010 MFAA conference on "Higher Education in Morocco in a Globalized World: a Transition to a more efficient and more competitive system," and as General Chair of the 2009 MFAA conference "Research & Technology for Economic Development in Morocco." Amine is a Fulbright Scholar (1999) and a member of ACM and of Phi Kappa Phi, Golden Key, Tau Beta Pi honor societies.

Saad Ibnsouda Koraichi Director of the City of Innovation Fez, Morocco Dr. Koraichi (Morocco, 1963) is the Director of the City of Innovation, University Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah Fes, since 2010. He obtained the Doctorate from University of Toulouse III and PhD in Microbiology from the University Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah Fes. Currently he is Professor at the University Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah, Fez, Director (since 2002) of Laboratory of Microbial Biotechnology Laboratory, and was Director of biology department at the Faculty of science and technology of Fez between 2006 and 2009. Dr Koraichi is member of the R egional Committee of educational experts from the

University Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah Fez and since 2006, member of the National Committee of Experts. Saad IBNSOUDA is a member of several scientific associations (SMGBM, BioDev, SSHA, SMCT, ATBiotec, ect). He is author of 62 papers in indexed international journals. His core research themes are: Biology Development (Drosophila, olive fly), Microbiology (Microbial Biofilms, protection of Cedarwood and paper manuscripts of historical) Biotechnology (enzymes: lipolytic, cellulosique, amylilosique and improving the extraction of olive oil). These researches were conducted within the framework of fifteen projects and contracts.

Amine Maliki Industry Liaison Manager at CNRST, Morocco Amine Maliki (Morocco, 1976) is an Industry Liaison Manager at the Centre National pour la Recherche Scientifique et Technique (CNRST), Rabat, and member of its board. He is a Deputy Coordinator of the Morocco Incubation and Spin-off Network (RMIE) since 2011. MBA holder (AUI, ’03, Int. Fin.), Mr Maliki has enriched his STP management experience through different international training (Shanghai, China and Daejeon, South Korea).

Omar Tanane Head of the Focal Point Technology and Innovation Support Centers (TISC), Morocco Mr Omar Tanane holds a Ph.D in electrochemistry from Hassan II University Casablanca Morocco, and a management degree from the Business School ISCAE in Casablanca. He obtained certificates from the World Intellectual Property Organization WIPO (DL 101 and DL301), and a Certificate from the Global Intellectual Property Academy GIPO, USPTO Washington USA: IP Management and Technology Licensing Program. His Research Interests are in patents, innovation, and entrepreneurship. In 1992 he joined the faculty of Sciences of Ben Msik Hassan II University Casablanca as a Lecturer. He is also head of the Focal Point Technology and

Innovation Support Centers (TISC)-Moroccan Industrial and Commercial Property Office, and Visiting lecturer at Ain Chock University Morocco in Entrepreneurship. Tanane is also responsible for the coordination unit of entrepreneurship development, innovation and communication of the sciences faculty ben Msik. He has filed several patents in the field of wastewater treatment, recycling of materials, and has published twenty scientific articles and edited one book.

Mustapha Amghar Director of GIE Galileo Morocco Group, Morocco Mr Amghar graduated in Electrical engineering from the Mohamadia School of Engineering (Rabat, 1983), obtained a PhD in Computer Science from Université de Liège (Belgium, 1995), and a Manager Diploma from the Belgium Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Cooperation. Since 2008 he is the Director of GIE Galileo Morocco Group. Prior to that, he was a Director at the Telecommunication Regulatory National Agency (ANRT) from 2006 to 2008, and expert adviser at the State Secretariat of the Prime Minister in charge of the Post office, Telecommunications and Information Technologies (2000- 2005). He has also been professor at

Mohamadia School of Engineering (EMI) since 1983. Mr Amghar main activities are teaching, research and consulting in ITC fields. He represents Morocco in international meeting and workshop on GNSS, particularly EGNOS and Galileo. He is in charge of the promotion, training, R&D of the applications and services in the field of the positioning and navigation by Satellites. He has also participated in several studies and national/ international projects in ICT and GNSS fields.

Mohamed Lasry CEO Cleanergy, Morocco Bringing with him over 25 years of experience in executive management, Dr. LASRY is the founder and chairman of Cleanergy. He holds several positions in public and private company. He was nominated in June 2010 CEO of the Moroccan Foundation for Advanced Science, Innovation and Research, a non-profit foundation that runs research in the strategic fields of environment, water, energy and health with the aim of promoting excellence in research and technology development in Morocco, which he left in July 2012 after having started and structured the foundation. Prior to this he was working with CDG Group (Government-owned financial institution) as a Board member and CEO for Off shoring and

technology branch during this period he has developed Off shoring sector and started a company for micro camera manufacturing , Dr. LASRY served as a President and CEO of ST Microelectronics’ branch in Morocco, a global semiconductor company. Since 1998, he held various executive management positions in ST Microelectronics and was the pioneer to build and start advanced assembly manufacturing plant for semiconductor in Morocco. Dr. Lasry also served as General Director for Labinal Group in Morocco, a world leader in the field of electrical wiring systems design, engineering & technology, manufacturing and services for the aerospace market. Between 1984 and 1995, Dr. LASRY held various positions related to quality management in ST Microelectronics. Dr. LASRY holds a doctoral degree in Electronics from l’Institut National de Polytechnique de Toulouse in France.

European Investment Bank

Jacques van der Meer Managerial Adviser at the European Investment Bank and CMI program leader on Innovation Capacities, Luxembourg Dr van der Meer is a Managerial Adviser at the European Investment Bank’s (EIB) Project Directorate, where he is in charge of the assessment of R&D and Innovation projects that are proposed for EIB-financing in industrial sectors (in particular automotive, steel, glass, fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals) as well as in the public sector research infrastructures (like Syncrotrons, Laser Installations and the European Extreme Large Telescope) and S&T-parks, in line with the Bank's support for Europe's Lisbon Strategy and the Horizon 2020 policy.

In 2010, Jacques was seconded to EIB's technical assistance unit JASPERS (Joint Assistance to Support Projects in European Regions), where he led a team of experts that provide technical assistance for project preparation in the Knowledge Economy (Education and Research Infrastructures, Science Parks, specialised healthcare, ICT and e-society projects). His interest in Intellectual Capital and R&D dates back from his Ph.D.-study (1987), which addressed the key issues for successful R&D-strategies in the semiconductor and pharmaceutical industries. Before joining the EIB in 1991, Jacques van der Meer lectured Strategic and Innovation Management at the Rotterdam School of Management of the Erasmus University and the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce in Lyon (nowadays EM de Lyon).

Paola Ravacchioli Investment Officer at the European Investment Bank Paola Ravacchioli is a member of the European Investment Bank’s Equity & Microfinance Division for operations in the MENA and ACP countries. Having spent over 17 years at the European Investment Bank, of which 8 in the European Investment Fund, financing the development of the private sector in the EU and the Mediterranean region, she has gained considerable experience in supporting entrepreneurship, not only through equity investments in companies and in funds, but also in the field of business incubation and tech start-up accelerators. Fluent in more than 11 languages, Paola holds a First-Class Honours Degree in Classical Humanities and a Diploma in European Humanities

from the Open University.

David Demulier Business Development Officer at the European Investment Bank Mr David Demulier (1973, France) is a business development officer within the FEMIP since April 2013. He holds a Masters of Law in Financial Engineering from Clermont -Ferrand University (2004), a degree from Sciences Po Paris, a Master in Private Law (1999), a Master in Real Estate Law (2002), an MBA from IAE of Strasbourg (2001), and an Executive Master in Islamic Finance, University of Strasbourg (2010). Prior to joining the Bank, he worked for the private sector and held various positions in France related to projects finance. In 2006 he worked as an expert investor in project financing with the Caisse des Dépôts (eastern France). In 2008 he became responsible for managing relations

with competitiveness clusters, incubators, and managers of investment funds (seed, venture capital, private equity) at the department of "businesses and innovation" in the Alsace Regional Directorate of the Caisse des Dépôts. He is a lecturer for Notarial Law and Real Estate at the University of Strasbourg and Strategy and Corporate Finance in Europe at Sciences Po Strasbourg.

Jihane Hakimi Consultant at the European Investment Bank Ms Jihane Hakimi (1985, Rabat) is currently a consultant working on the CMI Innovation Capacities program led by the European Investment Bank (EIB). She holds an MA in Development Economics from the University of Westminster (2011) and a BA in Political Sciences from Al-Akhawayn University in Ifrane (2008). Prior to joining the Bank, Jihane worked in a non-profit grassroots incubator that offers co-working space and community-based support for entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurs; she co-managed the start-up

phase and contributed to its business plan and revenue model. Back in 2009, she had spent a year within the EIB as a trainee in the Directorate of operations outside the EU and candidate countries supporting the activities of the Facility for Euro-Mediterranean Investment and Partnership (FEMIP). She is a certified microfinance expert from the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management (2013), and holds a certificate in Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation from Luxembourg University (2012). Her interests include start-ups, innovation, and public development policy.

ISESCO

Maha Merezak Programme Specialist, Human & Social Sciences, Science Directorate Mrs Maha Merezak has a PhD in Economics and is the author of several papers on economic and social development. She works at ISESCO as a Programme Specialist on Human and Social Sciences. She is actively engaged in a number of bilateral and multilateral network issues of crucial importance to the member states of ISESCO, most notably employment and economic growth (micro and macro perspectives, dynamics, etc.). She has contributed to the preparation and follow up of the elaboration of the report” transforming Arab Economies: Travelling the Knowledge and Innovation Road” by the CMI World Bank, World Bank, and ISESCO.

Her fields of expertise cover (i) scientific innovation (barriers to innovation in the MENA region) and governance of science parks, job-training adequacy, coaching young companies, human and economic barriers to development in the MENA region (lack of creativity, marginalized graduate people, women economic empowerment and gender equity), and (2) micro-finance and human development.
