Life, Above AllEssential Questions to LAA
Meet my youngest brother, Andy
He's 29 years old, married and is a junior high teacher.
Andy constantly battled an upset stomach and frequent
visits to the latrine throughout his adolescent life and was
finally diagnosed with Crohn's at 21 years old.
Andy's condition has impacted his family as we all have to be very mindful of what we eat and how we socialize. It may not seem like much but it is a real dilemma when he visits.
Crohn's DiseaseCrohn's disease is caused by interactions between environmental, immunological and bacterial factors in genetically susceptible individuals. This results in chronic inflammation, in which the body's immune system attacks the gastrointestinal tract possibly directed at the microbes living there.
There is no known pharmaceutical or surgical cure for Crohn's disease. Treatment options
are restricted to controlling symptoms, maintaining remission, and preventing
relapse.
History and Incidence of Crohn's
Crohn's was first described as early as 1632 and wasn't formally named until 1960 by Mr. Crohn.
Often confused with intestinal tuberculosis!!!

Research in the pathology of Crohn's bacteria has led to the discovery of biologics (GMOs that target inflammatory response)
