Unit 7:Frog Notes
(1) The Head• Ears:
– Thin membrane circles near eyes.– Allow for hearing.
• Vomerine Teeth:– Small, swollen bumps.– Roof of inside mouth, by nose.– Help hold prey.
• Maxillary Teeth:– Sharper bumps.– Roof of inside mouth.– Help tear flesh.
(2) The Chest• Heart:
– Hard, red-brown nugget– Circulate blood.– Center of chest in between lungs, above liver.
• Lungs:– Bring in oxygen gas, and release carbon dioxide
gas.– Sides of heart within chest.
(3) The Upper Abdomen• Liver:
– Gray-ish colored lobes (looks like lungs)– Break down misfunctioning blood cells, metabolize
toxins and fats.– Center of chest, under heart and lungs.
• Stomach:– Flesh-colored sack or tube– Metabolize food.– Left side of frog (your right side), under liver.
(4) The Lower Abdomen• Intestines:
– Flesh-colored tube– Absorb food nutrients + excrete waste– Connected to stomach.
• Cloaca:– Multipurpose Hole Sperm/Eggs, Urine and Fecal
Matter all come out of here.– End of Intestine + Exiting Waste Hole.
(5) Fat Bodies• Yellow-ish squiggly noodles
• Additional energy storage + body heat.
• Sides of body (internal), along abdomen.
