Senior art students that worked on the art alley. Honoring Harold Schafer, Era Bell Thompson and Gary Miller, all BHS Alum. The steampunk machine is blowing out bubbles and each student designed a rubber duck depicting an eth-nic group or showing some diversity. The students completed the wall in 30 days and was worked on after school and weekends.

The ST(ART) PROGRAM introduced Roosevelt Elementary School Students to the four fine arts disciplines: Music, Theatre, Dance and Visual. This program enhanced reading comprehension skills and communication abilities through the practice of arts immersion.

Through a six week study, children worked with area arts professionals to cre-ate a half hour performance piece using the four disciplines, built around a “North Dakota” theme, based on the original music of Kittyko. Twice weekly, students alternated working with four arts instructors to imagine characters, understand narrative and dialogue, explore movement styles, implement vo-cal techniques and design and create the world they have been inspired to present. At the end of the session, the students performed their piece for family and friends and shared their cumulative experience in the fine arts through confidence, collaboration, creativity and self-expression.

Middle School Jazz Jamboree

Legacy High School was the sight for the middle school Jazz Jamboree featuring middle school jazz groups from public and private schools in Bismarck and Mandan. The event allows students to watch other bands perform and gives them a great warm-up for the University Jazz Festival at the end of Janu-ary. Great show!
