Message of Executive Director BITA always try to release News Letters by
potential themes and news. 17th March was the National Children Day and the Birthday of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman-the Father of Nation. Bangabandhu is not only a name, it is a history. He is the father of nation. We salute him. Chittagong District administration arranged a rally on that day to celebrate the birthday of the Father of Nation. BITA Anando School children attended in the rally of National Children Day. The underprivileged children are reading in the Ananda School. Every child should know about the Bangabandhu, his political and social life and his devotion to Bangladesh. “Every child will be a Bangabandhu” this is our today’s pledge. World Theatre day was in the March 2019. BITA observed the Theatre Day by cultural program and drama showing. Drama say about human life, lifestyle, history, historical event, culture and protect the cultural heritage. BITA arranged the program in the BCCT in Patya. BITA believe that cultural mentality proceed a person in right way.

National Children Day :The Birth Day anniversary of
Father of Nation celebration
The 99th Birth Day anniversary of Father of Nation
celebrated in all Ananda school of ROSC-II project of
BITA on 17th March 2019. There were several event in
the program. Like Art competition, discussion
meeting, Jemon Khushi Temon Sajo etc. In the
program all the teacher discussed about
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to the learners.
Two special programme arranged in two school Amin
Colony Ananda School and Udayan Gali Ananda
School. Chottogram. City corporation councilor of 7
no ward Al Haj Mobarak Ali was the chief guest of the
discussion meeting. The meeting was presided over
Mr Mrittunjoy Sen Gupta, Head of HR, BITA. ROSC

coordinator A H M Hossain Monsur, Program Officer
Sharmithra Chowdhury and CMC advisor Mr Mizanur
Rahman was present in the program. All the student
and guardian attended in the program. Joty Akter,
Ismail Hossain, Hajrat Ali, Lamia Akter, Akash, Rakib,
Md Bijoy, Mehedi Hasan, Koli Akter, Alamgir, and
Jannat of Barma Colony Ananda School and Parul
Akter, Anika, Bibi Fatema, Shanta, Disan, Lipi Akter,

School were participated in several event. The chief
Guest and all the guest discussed about the Father of
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, his life
style and long life movement for the independence of
Bangladesh. They said that every learners should
know about the Father of Nation.
25 years Anniversary of BITA
BITA celebrated 25 years anniversary on 15th February 2019 . 25 years ago BITA started its path way . Now BITA is
a youth of 25 years. By this time BITA have worked in several field to change the life style of underprivileged people
and Ethnic peoples, to change their livelihood modality. BITA arranged whole day program in the BCCT in Patya to
celebrate the 25 years anniversary. In the program BITA Executive Committee members, cultural activists of
Chittagong, social elite of Chittagong and BITA all staffs attended. BITA Executive Director Sisir Dutta discussed about
the starting of BITA. He discussed Why BITA, How BITA proceed, What BITA want to do and What is the BITA’s future
dream. In the first half, the program started by the opening ceremony. In the opening ceremony former President
Prof. Abul Monsur attended and declare the opening of the program. He also discussed about his experience of BITA
journey. Poet & Journalist Swapon Dutta express his speech in the program, He also recited a own writing poem. In
the 2nd half cultural program arranged in the open yard of BCCT.
Usha Ganguli renowned Theatre Actor and Director of
Kolkata, conducted a residencial theatre workshop with BITA
theatre working group at BCCT, Patiya under the program of
celebrating 25 years celebration on 19-21 February 2019. The
workshop named with “Workshop on Artistic input
specialized Acting. In the previous time Usha Ganguli worked
with BITA to making a Theatre production name “Yesmin” in
2005.

BITA Organized a Seminar in the
Alliance Française de Chittagong Julia Scarlett Lindig conducted the seminar on “Independent Theatre in Germany”. The Chittagong University Dramatics Department Chairman and Dr Selvam Thorez the director of Alliance Française de Chittagong participated in the seminar. Chittagong University Dramatics Department teachers and students also participated in the seminar. Different theatre activist, local cultural activist and BITA staffs also participated in the seminar.

Under the program of 25 years celebration, BITA organize a seminar, It was “Activism, youth voice: art
education”. The moderator of the seminar was BITA Executive Director Sisir Dutta. A power point
presentation showed in the seminar by Pradip Acharjee-BITA Program Coordinator. After the presentation
there were arrange an open discussion for deliver opinion of the participants. The participants express
their opinion. Professor Harisanker Jaladas attended in the seminar & also express his opinion.

A full pleasant community level theatre has been produced by BC-TIP project intervention on prevent counter trafficking,
Safe migration, CVE and Child marriage issue. An intensive residential Theatre production making workshop was held on 13th January to 17th January at BITA culture & communication trust (BCCT), Patiya. 5 days long workshop organized to make full pleasant theatre, which is basically based on theatre script ‘Jegay Uthar Golpa’. After this production making the campaign theatre will cover message on TIP and Safe Migration, Child Marriage and also CVE issue on large scale at community level. The campaign not only be treated as awareness but also voice of advocacy message especially safe migration of male & female workers and their rights due to gradual increase of female workers migration to middle east from Bangladesh. 10 youth theatre artist were directly involved in the said program. Among them 8 are male and 2 are female. Some of the artists are student of dramatics department of University of Chittagong and some of the theatre artist of different theatre group in Chattogram.
A capacity development training has been organized for 3 CTC members of BITA BC-TIP program on 14.01.2019,
16.02.2019, 24.01.2019 in 3 (Three) Union. The training held on Sadonpur and Boilchari union of Banshkhali upazila and
Raipur union of Anowara upazila under Chattogram district. In these training there were total 43 CTC members attended,
whereas 32 are male and 11 are female participants including Chairman, UP secretary, UP members, women UP ward
members, marriage register, religious leader, community police, sub-assistant agriculture officer, health officer, teacher,
chairman representative, family planning officer etc. In Sadonpur and Boilchari union CTC training program inaugurated by
the chairman Mr. Mohiuddin Chowdhury Khoka and panel chairman Mr. Abdur Rahman and Raipur union CTC training
program inaugurated by the Chairman Mr. Janey Alam. In Boilchari CTC training Mr. Khandoker Shohel Rana, Prevention
and Communication Manager of BC-TIP program of Winrock International and Ms. Jesmin, Internee of Winrock International
attended the training, she discussed about the program and Mr. Rana also facilitated the important session named
“Difference between human trafficking and human smuggling”. Ashok Barua, project co-ordinator of BC-TIP program, BITA
is conducted the training program as a facilitator. Mainly CTC members roles & responsibility for January 2019 was discuss
in the training. The members are now playing role to identify victims & referring to BITA and others service organizations.

Service Provider Organization Networking Meeting
BITA is working with the collaboration of other service provider organization from the beginning of the organization.
On the continuance of that approach a service provider organization networking meeting was held on 31 January 2019 at
BITA Mehedibagh office Chattogram . BITA BC-TIP project organized the meeting where Caritas, Aparajao Bangladesh &
representatives from Bright Bangladesh Forum attended. The meeting is conducted by ASHSHASH project psycho-social
& legal services manager Ms. Khadiza Begum of Winrock International. About 10 persons attended into the meeting
where 2 are male & 8 are female. The agenda of the meeting was to selecting of counselor & planning for capacity
development. 10 or 12 participants which are working on prevent human trafficking, safe migration issue at field level to
support trafficked victims that they will be selected by a selection process for psycho - social counseling training through
ASHSHASH project by Winrock International. Trainee will be selected from BITA & same minded service provider
organization for future collaboration on support to trafficked victim or survivors.
BITA IDR-2 project organized the oldest persons for arrange get together program in the Char Gazi union. By the
impression of BITA the oldest persons arranged PICNIC for them by their own initiative. The Gabtoli CDMC committee members of Char Gazi union of Ramgoti upazila in Laxmipur district arranged the picnic for oldest persons. The concern persons are very happy to get together after a long time at the marginal time of their life. About 60 oldest persons attended in the picnic. They talked with themselves about their previous life each other. They remember their remarkable time or moment of their early life. For a few time they became their early life. They remember their happy time of early life. They talked about their present life style with each other. They talked about their family with each other. In the picnic they also discuss about their walk way in the village. The oldest persons cannot go any other for less communication system. They cannot participate in the social work and occasion. So they discuss to build 200ft muddy road.

IDR-2 project CDMC group built 300 feet soil road
There were no road in the Mir Bazar area but everybody felt that they need a road for better communication. For doing
something BITA formed CDMC group arranged meeting, after discussion the meeting they decided that they will make
a road with their own initiative. They were searching the persons who will donate them land for making road. At last
they got donor of land. By the impression of BITA IDR-2 project, CDMC group build 300 feet soil road in the Mir Bazar
area of Char Gazi union in the Ramgoti upazila of Laxmipur district. Three persons of that area donated the land for road
making. About 15 persons of the area worked to make the road without any remuneration.
All the peoples of the area helped
them very much. The inhabitant of
the area are now very happy for the
road. They felt the necessity of the
road from a long time but they did
not get any help from the concern
authority. So they made the road by
their own initiative. Because that
road was very essential for them.
After making the road local Gov’t
representative declared that they
will help all types of necessity from
the Union Parisad. They appreciated
the initiative of CDMC group. Now
the oldest person and any other
peoples can go from here to there
easily. They can do their necessary
work within a short time.
International Mother Language Day observation
International Mother Language Day and Shaheed Dibash have observed by BITA “Reaching Out of School Children
(ROSC-II)” project. Learners, Teachers, CCF and BITA ROSC officials participated in the program. The learners of the ROSC-II project are underprivileged children but they know about the Shaheed Dibash, we are also trying to inform them about the Shaheed Dibash.Learners from every school went to the Shaheed Minar and put in the flower in the foot of the Shaheed Minar. Discussion meeting and cultural program also arranged in that day.
Learners sang the song “Amar Bhaiyer Rokte Rangano Ekushey February, Aami Ki Bhulite pari”. Some of the school arranged discussion meeting and cultural program. The local ward councilors attended in the program. Local elite persons also attended in the program. In the meeting all the guest discussed about the language movement of 1952. All the staffs of the ROSC-II project also attended in the discussion meeting and flower putting in the Shaheed Minar. All staffs also went to the Shaheed Minar with the learners. Learners are happy to know the history of language movement.
TfD show in the Rohingya Camps under PSCIPE project TfD shows were organized in the Rohingya camps with the participation of Rohingya Socio-Cultural Action
groups on Child Protection and against the gender based violence under the PSCIPE project of BITA. Raising
community consciousness & mobilization engaging adolescent boys and girls was the main subject of the TfD.
61 shows delivered in the 13 Rohingya
camps where total 450 Rohingya
adolescent boys of 18 groups were the
actors and 25 adolescent girls of 1 group
were the actress. For making production
of TfD they practiced for 12 days. The
issues of the dramas are: child marriage,
child labour, child trafficking, gender
based violence, drug abuse and
environment protection. About 16,862
Rohingya people and others enjoyed the
drama. They enjoy the drama with a
joyful attitude. They said that the
presented issues are essential for the
child protection and auspiciousness of
the camp people. The consciousness on
environment protection increased
among the Rohingya people.
BITA is working in the Rohingya camps on child protection and GBV for increasing consciousness and community
mobilization. BITA has formed several adolescents group namely Socio-Cultural Action group on this purpose from
Rohingya adolescents. These groups arranged 91 meetings in the 18 Rohingya camps. They discussed about action
plan, progress of the previous plan, rearrange the action plan and interaction the knowledge. They discussed about
increasing the child protection activities and social welfare activities. They discussed about the scope of social welfare
and to take strategy of implementation and present situation of the Rohingya camp. They discussed the risk of child
protection in the Rohingya camp. They discussed about the several problems and strategy of solution in the camp.
They think that TFD is the easy process of social mobilization. It is the easy process to through any message in the
community. 725 adolescent boys and 1550 adolescent girls, a total of 2275 youth persons attended in the meeting.
Sharing session with PVT trainee
A sharing session occurred among ROSC-II PVT trainee and World Bank representative in LGED Bhaban Cox’s Bazar on
1st March 2019. Mr. Jaime Saavedra Chanduvi, senior director, Education, Mr. Cristian Aedo, Practice Manager, Education, Mr. Syed Rashed Al Zayed Josh, Senior Economist, Education Global Practice of World Bank and Ms. Jesmin Taslima Banu, Assistant Director ,Md. Moshrakul Alam ,Assistant Director, ROSC-II program, Nishat Afroz Mirza, deputy director(EYE) Program, Khursid Ara, Manager Pre-Voc (Rosc-II) EYE Program, Save the Children talked with five PVT trainee of BITA about their present job placement and future plan. They expressed their future plan and also said they are now happy.

Retreat of CIAS project
A retreat arranged by BITA-CIAS
project in Cox’s Bazar. The participants of the retreat were the staffs of CIAS project. UNICEF representative also attended in the program. In the introducing session each participant have to know the other participant deeply more about their hobby, goal in life, achievement in life and deliver that to all participant. This is a different from conventional introduction in the sense that many young and ambitious group of young professional have shared their utmost commitment to their career in development sector. Project target, achievement and activities have discussed in the retreat. Major discussions include overall annual activity plan which will be implemented in 2019. ODK(Online Digital Kit) renovation, proper data processing, IFC relocation, formation of Adolescent Radio Listener Clubs (ARLC), maintaining proper channel of communication etc. are some of the main discussions. ARLC is an urgent need spreading messages among adolescent children. Project team would take initiative to run ARLC activities as soon as possible. As a part of the team, best IFC award, best ISP male and female award have been introduced to appreciate their efforts. This will continue quarterly basis Learning something through recreational way is a unique idea. There were many recreational events in the program. All staffs were involved football game, singing competition, quiz contest related to project activities and throwing balls. It is a refreshment event as well as learning hub where all get to know each other deeply. It is spirit in building a robust team for the project. At the same time it is bottom up approach where decision from the field also has been taken into consideration. It is participatory approach where everyone has interaction with their fellow colleagues.

BITA’s 23rd AGM held on 15th February 2019 in BCCT, Patya. The General Secretary Kamal Sengupta and Treasurer Salah
Uddin Ahmed (Naki) delivered their report of past year. This year was the time of new committee formation. New
committee formatted for next two years by the election. New elected committee is Presedent - Cynthia D’ Rozario; Vice-
President - Abdus Salam Adu; General Secretary-Kamal Sengupta; Treasurer -Salah Uddin Ahmed (Naki) ; Member -
Subrata Barua; Bishawjit Sen ; Sisir Dutta ; Mousumi Chowdhury & Mohammad Roshangir
World Theatre Day celebration BITA organized two days long Youth Drama Conference headed “Juba Mukta Nattya Sanmelon” to observe the World
Theatre day on 28-29th March 2019. The slogan of the coferance was “Youth Generation associated to our Theatre”. The
conference arranged in the Shyam-Shefali temporary open stage and Folk Artist Binoy Banchi yard at the BCCT of BITA
in Patya. The youth attachment is encouraged in the conference. Chittagong University Dramatics Department, Theatre
Angikar-Ctg, Jumful Theatre-Rangamati and several field youth representatives participated in the program. The whole
program is devoted to Late Theatre Activist “Rumel Barua”. The program started by arranging a rally. The rally started
from Nayarhut and perfectioned in the BCCT. Chittagong University Dramatics Department, Theatre Angikar-Ctg, BITA
staffs and local people of the Patya attended in the rally. The stage program started by Drumbeating. BITA Executive
Director Sisir Dutta delivered the opening speech. He welcomed everybody and also express Thanks to everybody. He
also exclaimed the cause of village choosing for Theatre day observation.
Jumful Theatre presented their “Dhanpudi” drama. Angikar-Chattogram presented drama “Jege Othar Golpo” and
Chittagong University Dramatics Department presented Drama “Juta Abiskar”
Two stage were launched in the BCCT of BITA at that time. First one was the “Folk Artist Binoybanchi Chattar” on the
honour of famous drum artist of sub continent Binoybanchi Jaladas and secondly “Shyam-Shefali temporary open stage”
on the honour of two famous singer of Chittagong local songs Shyamsundar Baishnyab and Shefali Gosh. After a time
permanent stage will be establish instead of temporary stage.
The elite persons of the Chittagong attended in the program. Prof. Harishankar Jaladas also attended the program. He is
one of the owner of Bangladesh Gov’t Ekushey Padak”. BITA also granted him the worthy of honour.

visit of Julia
On the occasion of 25th anniversary of BITA, Julia
Scarlett Lindig, the artist and cultural activist of
Germany arrived to share her experience in BITA. She
spent a busy time in the sharing duration. She
conducted several program and participated another
various program. She conducted three days workshop
in BITA implemented “Ananda School” (urban slum
school in Chittagong) with students to make more
involvement with Art Education Activities of the
students. She showed a Puppet Theatre in the Ananda
School. Students became very happy to watch the
theatre. By the learning of this program children will
more creative for their future development. She also
conducted puppet workshop at Rohingya Refugee
Camp in Ukhya, Cox’s Bazar. She conducted a Theatre
Workshop with “Jumful Theatre”-Rangamati in the
village of Gatachara in Kutukchari union. “Jumful
Theatre” is a Theatre group of indigenous youth
persons. She also attended a drama show and cultural
program, presented by “Jumful Theatre” in Ragamati.
Julia said that it was a great chance for her to working
with BITA. It is an innovation to her that BITA go to
school and use theatre as a focus of education. She said,
“ I believe that this is needed here more rather than
putting someone on stage”. She said that her special
work was going to the school, specially slums schools
and teaching them to concentrate on themselves. She
believe every child is unique individuals and he have a
dream.
Orientation on
Reproductive
Health for Reporters
BITA organized an orientation program on 24th March’2019 for the reporters of several news papers on Sustainable
Reproductive Health in BRAC Learning center, Chittagong by the help of Action Aid Bangladesh. Basically the orientation organized by the Action for Impact project of BITA. About 9 reporters and 3 youths participated in the orientation. The training coordinator for Global Platform Mr Arif Siddique, Deputy Manager of Action Aid Mr Amin-Al- Anas and inspirator Mr Farhadur Rahman attended in the orientation. At first the Project coordinator of BITA Mr Bappa Chowdhury discussed in the opening session. The subject of the orientation were what is the rights of sex and reproductive health, the general problem of sex and reproductive health, what is gender etc. How the service of reproductive health can receive from the Gov’t and Non Gov’t organization was also discussed in the orientation. After the time Mr Syed Amin-Al-Anas discussed how the reporter play their role on reproductive health. He said till today nobody of Bangladesh explain about gender. The method of the orientation was Lecture method, Group work and display and participatory discussion.
