Black & White I see cartooning as a tool of change and love to use it for differ-ent campaigns & movements.`Black & White’ is an effort to give it a proper shape. 'B&W' will try its best to highlight an issue by publish-ing a series of cartoons and by circulating them as much as possible. The focus will be on human rights defenders, bloggers, writers and journalists who are being targeted for their works and B&W will use cartoons to run some support campaigns for them.

In this second issue of B&W, I'm publishing sets of 10 cartoons on three different issues. First, the flogging of raif badawi. Second, the recent attacks on the indian journalists. Third, Vyapam, one of the deadliest ttacks in the history of India. Aseem Trivedi

10 Cartoons Against Recent Attacks on Indian Journalists

Two journalists in India died this month after being set on fire. In the first case, Jagendra Singh, a freelance journalist from the Shahjahanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly set on fire for his reporting. Police have reg-istered a murder case against several officers, other men and state dairy de-velopment minister Ram Murti Singh Verma.

Singh, who operated a Facebook page called “Shahjahanpur Samachar” (Shahjahanpur News), uploaded posts regarding the alleged involvement of the minster in illegal mining and land grabbing. Verma, along with others, has been named in the first information report (FIR) although a forensic report suggested that Singh might have burned himself.

In the second, a Madhya Pradesh journalist Sandip Kothari was kidnapped and later burned to death, allegedly by the mining mafia.

The Curse of #VyapamThe Vyapam scam is an admission and recruitment scam involv-ing politicians, senior officials and businessmen in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. A number of people connected to the scam and its investigation, died during the course of investigation. The opposition parties and activists alleged that several of these deaths happened under suspicious circumstances. In 2015, the Spe-cial Task Force (STF) submitted a list to High Court, naming 23 people who are believed to have died "unnatural death". According to the STF, most of these deaths took place before it took over the investigation in July 2013. Some media reports claimed that 40+ people associated with the scam had died under mysterious cirum-stances.
