Principal’s Report Dear Parents,

P & C MEETING

Tuesday 7th NOVEMBER

Welcome back to Term 4.

ELECTION DAY

This Saturday, 14th October, there will be an election held in our school grounds.

The P & C committee will be holding a barbeque throughout the Saturday to help

raise funds for the school. If you are able to come up and help for an hour or so

throughout the day, it would be greatly appreciated.

LOOSE CHANGE DRIVE

This is the last week for the P & C’s loose change drive. The final tally for each

class will be made and an announcement will be made soon as to which class will

be awarded the pizza party for their efforts.

KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION

Unfortunately, we have had to make a change to the original Kindergarten

Orientation dates. The Orientation program has been brought forward a week. The

first Kindergarten Orientation is now Friday 3rd

November, the second is the Friday

10th November and the final Orientation date is Friday 17

th November. Amended

letters have gone out to all parents who have completed enrolment forms for their

child to start Kindergarten next year.

KINDERGARTEN ENROLLMENT NOW DUE

If you or someone you know has a child who will be turning 5 on or before 31st July

they are eligible to be enrolled into Kindergarten for 2018. Please come and collect

an enrolment form if you have not already and please let any neighbours or friends

in the Blacktown West Public School boundary know to come and complete the

forms in readiness for an invitation to our Kindergarten Orientation Program.

FUN DAYS

Stage fun days are currently being organised by each stage for the end of the year.

A reminder has been given to all students that excursions and fun days are by

invitation only. If a student receives multiple blue slips or a blue slip of a significant

nature that child may forfeit the right to receive an invitation to these special events.

PREFECTS 2018

Nominations have been called for students in Year 5 to run for the 2018 Prefect

body. The candidates will be presenting their 1 minute speech in November and the

team will be announced at the Academic Presentation.

STAGE 2 HYDE PARK BARRACKS EXCURSION

The students in stage 2 have received an invitation to attend the ‘Hyde Park

Barracks’ excursion on Wednesday 8th November. The excursion is now full. The

students need to be at school by 8:15am in full school uniform with a packed lunch

and recess.

CANTEEN PRICE LIST

A new canteen price list has been issued to all students. There has been an

increase in some prices.

2018 CALENDAR

2018 calendars featuring a piece of artwork from your child are now on sale for $9:00. The profit from the calendars

goes towards the Year 6 Farewell. The closing date for purchasing a calendar is Friday 27th October. Order forms can be

picked up from the school’s office.

PARENT INSERVICES

The school has organised for our Occupational Therapist, Nicole Patterson, to run a parent inservice on Friday 27th

October. All parents who are interested in listening to ways to assist their child are most welcome to come along

to the Library. The inservice will run from 9:00 – 10:00 am.

On Wednesday 1st November, Mrs Garbutt and Mrs Brierley will be holding a ‘Maths Games’ inservice for parents

with children in years Kindergarten to Year2. Again, this inservice will be held in the Library from 2:00pm. The

parents are encouraged to bring their child who is in Kindergarten to Year 2 with them as they will be playing the

maths games with their parent.

K - 2 MATHS GAMES

A package of maths games will be going home to all students in Kindergarten to Year 2 next week. These games have

been organised so that each child can play with them at home with family members to assist them in mastering various

maths skills.

LOST GLASSES

Several pairs of children’s prescription glasses have been handed into the office. If your child has lost a pair, please drop

into the school office.
