BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION:
A. SEQUENCE OF OPERATION FOR FIRE AND SMOKE-CONTROL
EQUIPMENT.
B. LIST OF ALL POINT NUMBERS AND POINT DESCRIPTIONS.
C. BUILDING FLOOR PLANS DRAWN TO SCALE, SHOWING DEVICE
LOCATIONS; COMPLETE WIRING AND SCHEMATIC DIAGRAMS,
INCLUDING NUMBER, SIZE AND TYPE OF CONDUCTORS AND
CONDUIT FOR BOTH EXISTING AND NEW, WIRE COLOR CODES, AND
FIELD TERMINATIONS; CONTROL PANEL LAYOUTS, INCLUDING ALL
MODULES, CIRCUIT TERMINATIONS AND INTERCONNECTIONS,
OVERALL CABINET DIMENSIONS, AND PANEL FRONT LAYOUTS;,
COMPLETE RISER DIAGRAMS INDICATING WIRING SEQUENCE FOR
ALL DEVICES AND CONTROL EQUIPMENT.
DRAWINGS SHALL SHOW PROPOSED LAYOUT AND ANCHORAGE
EQUIPMENT AND APPURTENANCES AND EQUIPMENT RELATIONSHIP TO
OTHER PARTS OF WORK, INCLUDING CLEARANCES FOR MAINTENANCE
AND OPERATION.
PREPARE SHOP DRAWINGS AT A MINIMUM SCALE OF 1/8-INCH EQUALS 1
FOOT FOR DETAILS. ALL SHOP DRAWINGS ARE TO BE PROVIDED WITH THE
MANUFACTURER'S LOGO CLEARLY PRINTED ON EACH DRAWING.
THE INSTALLING CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR PROVIDING ALL
REQUIRED EQUIPMENT FOR A CODE-COMPLIANT SYSTEM.
THE SCOPE OF WORK FOR THIS PROJECT INCLUDES THE UPGRADE OF
THE EXISTING FIRE ALARM SYSTEM FOR THE CHEMISTRY COMPLEX
LOCATED ON THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO'S LAS CRUCES CAMPUS.
THE WORK TO BE PERFORMED INCLUDES, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO THE
FOLLOWING:
· PROVIDE A COMPLETE VOICE EVACUATION FIRE ALARM SYSTEM
AS SHOWN ON DRAWINGS
· COMPLETELY REPLACE THE EXISTING FIRE ALARM NOTIFICATION
CIRCUITS AND APPLIANCES WITH NEW ADA COMPLIANT DEVICES.
· EXISTING FIRE ALARM INITIATING AND CONTROL DEVICES ARE TO BE
REPLACED ALL FIRE ALARM BOXES ARE TO BE RELOCATED TO 48" TO
THE OPERABLE PART OF THE DEVICE AND LOCATED WITHIN 5 FEET
OF EACH EXIT SERVED.
· NEW SMOKE AND HEAT DETECTORS LOCATED AS SHOWN ON THE
DRAWINGS.
· NEW ADDRESSABLE CONTROL RELAYS, ADDRESSABLE MONITOR
MODULE AND POWER SUPERVISORY RELAYS FOR ELEVATOR
CONTROL INTERLOCKS AS SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS. THE
INSTALLING CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
COORDINATING WITH NMSU FACILITIES DEPARTMENT FOR THE
TERMINATION AND TESTING OF ALL CONTROL INTERLOCKS.
· NEW FIRE ALARM TERMINAL CABINETS (FATC) WILL BE PROVIDED. ALL
WIRING BETWEEN THE FACP AND FACT SHALL BE LANDED ON
TERMINAL STRIPS. NO WIRE NUTS ARE TO BE USED WITHIN THE FATC.
ALL WIRING SHALL BE PERMANTLY LABELED AND IDENTIFIED BY
CIRCUIT, FUNCTION OR USE. ALL WIRING IN THE FACP, FAPS AND
FATC SHALL BE PROPERLY SECURED.
THE EXISTING FIRE ALARM SYSTEM IS TO REMAIN IN AN OPERABLE
CONDITION AT ALL TIMES UNTIL NEW WORK HAS BEEN COMPLETED. THE
INSTALLING CONTRACTOR WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATING
ALL REQUIRED WORK WITH NMSU FACILITIES DEPARTMENT. ALL
EQUIPMENT REMOVED OR REPLACED AS PART OF THIS PROJECT IS TO BE
RETURNED TO THE NMSU FACILITIES DEPARTMENT. THE CONTRACTOR
SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REMOVAL OF ALL WIRING REPLACED OR
REMOVED AS PART OF THIS PROJECT.
THE CHEMISTRY BUILDING HAS A FULL COVERAGE WET, PIPE SCHEDULE DESIGNED
SPRINKLER SYSTEM. THE ENTIRE FIRE PROTECTION SYSTEM SHALL MEET
APPLICABLE FEDERAL, STATE, AND LOCAL CODES AND ORDINANCES.
THE FOLLOWING DRAWINGS ARE INTENDED TO CONVEY THE SPRINKLER DESIGN
FOR NMSU APPROVAL PURPOSES ONLY. THE SPRINKLER CONTRACTOR WILL BE
RESPONSIBLE FOR PREPARING COMPLETE SHOP DRAWINGS. THESE DRAWINGS
SHALL BE SUBMITTED TO JENSEN HUGHES FOR APPROVAL PRIOR TO
INSTALLATION.
NEW SPRINKLERS WILL BE ADDED WHERE SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS. EXISTING
SPRINKLERS THAT REQUIRE REPLACEMENT DUE TO LEAKAGE OR CORROSION ARE
SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS.
SPRINKLERS THAT ARE ADDED SHALL BE HYDRAULICALLY CALCULATED.
SPRINKLERS THAT REQUIRE REPLACEMENT SHALL BE REPLACED LIKE FOR LIKE OR
AS NOTED ON THE DRAWING SHEET NOTES.
ALL SPRINKLERS, VALVES, AND ALARM BELLS ARE EXISTING UNLESS SHOWN
OTHERWISE.
1. INSTALLATION OF AUTOMATIC SPRINKLERS SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH NFPA
13, 2013 EDITION.
2. DESIGN AND INSTALLATION TO BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE FOLLOWING CODES:

2015 NEW MEXICO BUILDING CODE (NMBC)
2013 NFPA 13 STANDARD FOR THE INSTALLATION OF SPRINKLER SYSTEM

3. ALL NEW FIRE SYSTEM PIPING (ABOVE GROUND) TO BE SCHEDULE 10 BLACK STEEL
FOR MAINS AND SCHEDULE 40 BLACK STEEL FOR BRANCHLINE PIPING, AND
GALVANIZED FOR EXTERIOR INSTALLATION, UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED.
4. ALL FIRE SYSTEM EQUIPMENT TO BE UL LISTED FOR FIRE PROTECTION USE.
5. ALL HANGERS AND SEISMIC BRACING TO BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH
NFPA 13 STANDARD; AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH JOIST AND HANGER
MANUFACTURER'S INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.
6. ALL PIPE DIMENSIONS SHOWN ARE CENTER TO CENTER.
7. CONTRACTOR IS TO FIELD VERIFY ALL DIMENSIONS AND COORDINATE WITH OTHER
TRADES PRIOR TO INSTALLATION. INSTALL OFFSETS IN PIPING AS REQUIRED BY
COORDINATION.
8. REFERENCE PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION NOT
SHOWN ON THE DRAWINGS.

REQUIREMENTS AND PLACEMENT SHALL BE AS SHOWN ON THE DESIGN
DRAWINGS UNLESS PLACEMENT HAS BEEN APPROVED IN WRITING BY JENSEN

4) NOTIFICATION APPLIANCES SHALL BE INSTALLED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION
18.4 OF THE 2013 EDITION OF NFPA 72 AND SHALL PROVIDE AUDIBLE OCCUPANT

8. INSTALLING CONTRACTOR TO INSTALL NEW TERMINAL STRIPS IN FIRE
ALARM TERMINAL CABINETS. ALL WIRING BETWEEN FIRE ALARM CONTROL
PANEL AND FIELD FIRE ALARM TERMINAL CABINET TO BE TERMINATED ON
NEW TERMINAL STRIPS. NO WIRE NUTS ALLOWED.
9. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATING ALL REQUIRED
WORK TO MONITOR, CONTROL, OR SUPERVISE ALL EXISTING CONTROL
EQUIPMENT INTERLOCKS WITH THE NEW FIRE ALARM SYSTEM.

8. INSTALLING CONTRACTOR TO INSTALL NEW TERMINAL STRIPS IN FIRE
ALARM TERMINAL CABINETS. ALL WIRING BETWEEN FIRE ALARM CONTROL
PANEL AND FIELD FIRE ALARM TERMINAL CABINET TO BE TERMINATED ON
NEW TERMINAL STRIPS. NO WIRE NUTS ALLOWED.
9. THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR COORDINATING ALL REQUIRED
