Teacher Notes“Bleezer’s Ice Cream” is a fun poem thatstudents think is funny and gross all at thesame time. I have developed this activityabout alliteration to correlate with the poem.Included in this packet is: sample lesson plans,alteration poster, a copy of the poem, brainstorm sheet and classroom display pieces.

Sample Lesson Plan1. Introduce alliteration and how it

may be used in poems2. Read “Bleezer’s Ice Cream” and

have students listen foralliteration in the poem

3. Read the poem again and havestudents circle the alliteration.

4. Have students brainstorm otherflavors that may be in the icecream shop using alliteration.

5. Students choose their favoriteflavor and write it on an icecream scoop.

6. Make a large ice cream cone withthe new ice cream flavors onyour wall. It is a great hallwaydisplay!

Directions: Write your new ice cream flavor on the ice cream scoop. Decorate it and cut it out.

Teacher Directions: Cut out one copy of the ice cream cone. Color the cone or copy it on tan paper. Place it at the bottom of your bulletin board or wall. Place the students ice cream scoops going up the bulletin board or wall. (See diagram of display.)
