Here are some helpful steps if you are thinking about participating in the Seattle Night Out Against Crime but you happen to live on a bus route. LAST MINUTE NOTE: Shoot, it took me so long to figure out how to edit this that I forgot what I wanted to add. Poop.

STEP ONE

Do you want to close the block on a bus route?

The Seattle Night Out Against Crime Block Party

1st Tues August

Register at this website:http://www.seattle.gov/police/nightout/default.htm

Then proceed to STEP 2 on the next page.

STEP TWO

1. Create a committee - at least three members.

2. Have their emails and address & phone numbers handy.

3. Name the committee

4. Apply for the “SMALL SPARKS WEBGRANT”http://webgrants.seattle.gov/index.do

5. After the committee is approved for the GRANTTHEN apply for funding & a Special Events Permit

6. DO NOT PAY FOR THE PERMIT UNTIL THE SMALL SPARKS “FUNDING” application IS APPROVED.

7. FIND a FISCAL SPONSOR - usual the CHAMBER of COMMERCE will sponsor. (they will also cover LiabiltyInsurance Requirements)

Final Steps8. Now that you are approved, gather the committee and get some ideas and pricing for a budget. Your first item is the bus /street closure permit.***be sure to keep track of all the volunteer hours*** (that’s how you get reimbursed for the costs)

9. You will also need to get no parking and street closed barricades, Get pricing on having these deliv-ered or see if you can borrow some from the Cham-ber (your fiscal sponsor)

10. Be sure to give the Chamber $50 for their help.

11. Plan activities and assign neighbors duties and ask everyone to chip in with BYOB, food and snack donations.

12. PREPARE a CLEAN UP committee and remember clean up includes returning the NO PARKING and STREET CLOSED signs.

REIMBURSEMENT PROCEDURES:

Now that it’s over, you finally can get your money back.

YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE digital copies of your RECEIPTS

for the EXPENSES

Open the spreadsheet at yourwebgrants account identify each

receipt with names and totals (it’s easier to keep track of that way)

SUBMIT the form. Once the expenses are approved the reimbursement check will be sent to your fiscal

sponsor who will in turn send you a check.
