Fellow Parents and Board members of the APEEE
1 APEEE Woluwe Blue Book 2012 – 2013
Dear parents and pupils,
This brochure gives you an overview of the
various services and activities offered by
the APEEE at our Woluwe school, including
canteen, transport and after school
activities.
Information about registration, contacts and
much more can be found in this brochure
and all details can be found on
our website at:
www.woluweparents.org
Please note that the APEEE website is the primary source of information;
no paper copies will be circulated. Our objective by reducing paper is to
also reduce our environmental footprint.
We welcome your comments/suggestions, so please do feel free to feed
back in order to help us to better serve you.
I would like to underline the importance of the role of the Parents’
Associations at the European schools in Brussels. To ensure a better
school for your children, it is important to have representatives of the
parents on the teaching and administrative committees run by the school
administration.
Please contact me, or your language section’s APEEE Board member, to
find out more.
Thank you in advance for your membership and active support.
Erwin Van Dijck
Director APEEE

APEEE – Mission, composition and Administration
APEEE – it looks as though an extra E was left in by accident! Not so, this acronym stands for
Association of Parents of “Elèves” (Pupils) of the “Ecoles Europennes” (European schools).
The European schools provide teaching and premises, exclusively. The Parents’ Association has two main tasks therefore:
1. To represent parents - the APEEE is concerned with parents' interests in school management, Board of Governors, teachers and other parties. APEEE members participate in the School’s Managing Board plus various other school forums which discuss pedagogical, administrative, financial and safety issues. Board members meet with the headmasters of Primary, Secondary and with the Director regularly and thus are able to raise critical issues, ensuring that parents' views are heard.
2. To provide essential services to parents and children including canteen,
transport, after school activities, supervision, lost property… Read on and
consult our APEEE website for further information about these services.
The APEEE is an Association Internationale Sans But Lucrative or AISBL. It employs paid staff to deliver canteen, transport and extra-curricular services, including a director - who takes charge of supervising the services (canteen, transport and afterschool activities) and he manages the associated staff. Part-time supervisory staffs (surveillants) are employed to maintain order and ensure safety on the school buses, and also to keep an eye on children before and after extra-curricular activities.
Erwin is the Director of the Association, and Anja is the Administrator. They work full time
for the APEEE, handling a considerable amount of administrative issues. With an
approximate 3180 pupils in our school, their hands are full, helping to provide services to
parents and pupils. We – parent members – greatly appreciate their input.

Afterschool Activities
The Association organizes a wide range of sport and cultural activities. There are 60
different activities to choose from.
Email address: [email protected]
Agnieszka & co. do an amazing job in catering for the needs of our children outside of
classroom time. Go to the APEEE website (Periscolaire) to see the extensive list of
afterschool activities available.
Registration is possible from the APEEE website (via private space so do have your login and
password handy).

Canteen
The APEEE prepares 2 600 meals and 210 sandwiches for pupils and staff every school day.
Email address: [email protected]
Fax: 02 772 56 98
It is no mean feat to organise so many meals in a day, and burgers and chips are not
accepted as staples at our school canteen. Daniel and his team select menus on the advice of
a nutritionist to ensure decent sustenance for our children. Parents are welcome to come
and sample the food for themselves at any time.
To register, just send an email to [email protected].
Renewals are automatic at the beginning of every school year based on subscriptions from
the previous year.

Transport
The Association’s transport group organises buses to take pupils to and from school. 2.475 pupils use buses every morning and afternoon. Over 50 buses serve 600 bus stops in Brussels and its surroundings.
Email address: [email protected] Fax: 02 761 93 79
We (parents) are very lucky to be able to count on the efficiency of this team to bus so many
children to and from our school. We commend their efforts in keeping us informed; even
when systems don’t work as planned, they somehow manage to let us know.
Registration (via private space so do have your login and password handy) and an interactive
map of bus numbers and schedules are available on the APEEE website (transport). It is also
possible to change bus on the website (via private space), for a day or in permanently in the
case of a house move.
Renewals are automatic at the beginning of every school year based on subscriptions from
the previous year.

To register your child for buses, afterschool activities or school meals, you need to be a
member of the APEEE and to have a login + password. Registration is possible by logging on
to the APEEE website (“secured zone” or “private space”) and going to the relevant menu.
As membership of the APEEE is a condition for using the services offered, at the beginning of
the school year each family receives an invitation to pay the annual subscription fee (45
Euros - subject to annual revisions) with bank transfer details.
New parents can register online via the private space menu, by clicking on the "new
family" dialogue box and completing the details.
WoluwInfo
WoluwInfo is a monthly newsletter, distributed by email and is also available on the
website. It provides information on a variety of topics related to life at school.
Lost Property Eureka
Thanks to the goodwill of a few dedicated parents, we offer a service: Eureka for handling of
lost property. These parents sort and mind masses of items found around the school, and as
a result many precious lost items are retrieved
