SUMMARY

WHAT IS IT?

Created four years ago, the Blue Ocean Awards is a competition set up to support French companies creating new markets through their innovative services or products. This major event revolutionizes entire industries and promotes ambitious projects.

WHERE DOES THE CONCEPT COME FROM?

These awards are directly inspired by the research of Professors W. Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne, the co-authors of the best-seller Blue Ocean Strategy, which defines an innovative method to change the rules of competition by creating its own market, called "Blue Ocean".

Following the release of the second book of W. Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne, Blue Ocean SHIFT, end of September 2017,

Blue Ocean Awards Day will allow everyone to discover, through the presentation of concrete cases and inspirational testimonies, how to change the rules of the game of his own industry.

The Blue Ocean Awards are now recognized globally as a major innovation event which revolutionized entire industries. 90% of those who won the Blue Ocean Awards have been financed to more than one million Euros within six months. All these companies have the particularity of generating their own markets.

THE BEGINNING

After starting his career at the CEO Department of Microsoft and Club Internet, Alban subsequently participated in the development of the first French consulting firm in Open Innovation.

With his team of international experts in Blue Ocean Strategy, Ecosystems, Intra & Entrepreneurship, Lean Startup, Digital Transformation and Managerial Innovation, he deploys tailored innovation strategies for industries, large groups and key entrepreneurs.

French companies created new markets through innovative offerings that revolutionized their industries! We recently witnessed the great success of Compte-Nickel in the retail banking industry, Withings on the small household appliances industry with the introduction its connected balance in 2012 or Criteo in the online advertising in 2008.

Alban Eral has been practicing and deploying Blue Ocean Strategy for more than ten years for the biggest names (energy industry, accounting, video games, healthcare). In 2014, he founded the Blue Ocean Awards in collaboration with HEC Paris and the French Ministry for the Economy and Finance to highlight French companies that create new markets. He, himself has, launched several startups in action sports and "societal performance" industries.

Alban is a graduate from HEC Paris business school and Télécom ParisTech. In 2013, he has created Axessio's Strategic Innovation Division, considering Innovation as the new strategy for any company.

Blue Ocean Awards is the first annual event aiming at giving recognition to innovative French companies, who have successfully created new markets, away from the competition. For the fourth year, supported by the French Ministry for the Economy and Finance, the most creative products and services will be rewarded by a jury of top-notch professionals, successful entrepreneurs & global experts.

In our challenging economic climate the pursuit of Blue Oceans is now more relevant than ever to close that gap and strengthen the ability of SMEs to grow into the next large companies of the French economy. Renée Mauborgne, co-writer of Blue Ocean Strategy, at Blue Ocean Awards 2015, MEDEF, Paris, France

For the past 4 years, I have been an avid and passionate member of the Blue Ocean Awards jury for their ability to detect the future nuggets of French-style Innovation, which carries with it our revolutionary tradition. Laure Reinhart, Director of Innovation Partnerships from bpifrance, 11th July 2017, Paris, France
