We are pleased to announce that we have achieved the ISO 9001 quality standard certificate for a third consecutive year.
ISO 9001 was first introduced in 1987 and requires organisations to demonstrate that they do what they say they do and that they have a quality management system in place to ensure consistency and improvement; leading to high levels of performance and customer satisfaction.
Certified organisations are committed to continuous improvement and are assessed annually to ensure progress is being maintained.
As well as attaining our accreditation for ISO 9001 again this year we have also attained ISO 27001 accreditation for In- formation Security. ISO 27001 is designed to help establish and maintain an effective information management system, using a continual improvement approach. It implements Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development principles governing security of information and network systems. Certified organisations are committed to continuous improvement and are assessed annually to ensure progress is being maintained.

It seems that the bring your own device (BYOD) trend isn't panning out the way some people had hoped. BYOD brings with it a number of security and manageability concerns. When mobile devices don't belong to the enterprise, workers use them for whatever they want, and it's nearly impossible for IT to police.
COPE, or "Corporate-Owned, Personally Enabled," promises to clean up some of the mess that BYOD has created. The COPE model offers businesses a new way of acknowledging and embracing consumerisation by giving some control back to IT without depriving users of devices that make them more productive.
First, there's the corporate- owned part. In the COPE model, workers use devices issued and sanctioned by the organization instead of using their own devices for work.
2
Though that idea may sound like a throwback to the thumbscrew days of IT domination – one of the things BYOD seeks to eradicate – the personally enabled qualifier means IT loosens its reins a bit.
With COPE, employees can use corporate devices for personal tasks. Workers can post, text, tweet and launch cartoon birds to their hearts' desire.

There's a new debate when it comes to enterprise mobility: BYOD versus COPE.

New signing to Blue Sky’s technical support team
Welcome to Gareth Saxby who has recently joined Blue Sky on the technical side. Gareth is an experienced Unix Administrator with excellent skills in Red Hat Linux as well as an expert knowledge of Windows operating systems. He joined us from a company that provides international card payment solutions based in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire but wanted to relocate to the London area and we were very happy to employ him. He is a computer hobbyist with a deep interest in system building, home virtualisation and Linux as an appliance... basically a “geek” so he fits in well with the rest of the team.
