Standard Camera Settings:

• Frame rate: 23.976fps • Shutter Speed: 1/48 (equivalent to 180 Shutter Angle at 23.976 fps) • Native ISO: 800 • Resolution: 4.6K, 4K, UHD, 2K, 1080P • Shooting Mode: ProsRes or Blackmagic RAW (When in RAW, must record in 4.6K for full

sensor scan) Basic Functions

§ Power on/off switch

o The power switch is located on the left side of the camera. Push the switch to the right to turn it off, push the switch to the left to power on.

§ Record button o You can press Record on the body of the camera with the red REC button, or

from the LDC touch screen by taping the circle button. § Neutral Density (ND) Filters

o When looking at the left side of the camera, towards the lens, you will see a dial for the ND Filters. Turn the dial to move through the available filters.

§ Zoom on the LCD Touch Monitor o Double-tap the LCD monitor to zoom in on the display. Drag your finger across

the screen to look at different areas. Memory Cards CFast 2.0: Lexar 128GB (2x) CFast 2.0 cards look extremely similar to CF cards. Do not mix them up. A CFast 2.0 card has different pin connections. It is not compatible with CF card slots or CF card readers. Above the media card slots, there is a switch to select either SD or CFast. Make sure the switch is set to CFast when using the CFast 2.0 cards.

Reformat the Media Card o On the LCD Touchscreen, tap the storage indicator at the bottom of the screen. o In the storage manager view, tap Format Card 1 to reformat the CFast card in slot one, or

tap Format Card 2 for the card in slot 2. o Next, a screen will ask you to “choose a format”. Select OS X extended as the format as this

is the recommended format by the manufacture. o Confirm your selection, then tap Exit to leave the storage manager.

Naming the Cards in Camera o When you select to format a card, it will also give you the option to “Edit Reel Number”.

When you insert a new media card and reformat it, you can name the card by its roll number. If it’s the first media card you’re using for the day it’d be roll 1. You can tap Edit Reel Number and name it “1”. This makes identifying the media in post faster.

MENU NAVIGATION Where to set the FPS (up to 60fps) o To set the frame rate, on the LCD Touchscreen, tap the FPS indicator on the top row. Either

tap the arrows or drag the slider to change the Frames Per Second value. o When shooting for films, the standard frame rate is 23.976. You can set the rate to 23.98,

24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94, and 60.

How to enable recording in High Frame Rate in 120 FPS o To shoot HFR (High Frame Rate) up to 120fps, first you must enable HFR mode by pressing

the HFR button on the forward control panel. o To set the frame rate, on the LCD Touchscreen, tap the FPS indicator on the top row. Either

tap the arrows or drag the slider to change the Frames Per Second value.

Where to set SHUTTER ANGLE o To set the shutter angle, on the LCD Touchscreen, tap the Shutter indicator on the top row.

When recording at 23.976 FPS, 180 shutter angle is equivalent to a shutter speed of 1/48.

Where to set ISO o To set the ISO, on the LCD Touchscreen, tap the ISO indicator on the top row. Select an ISO

number by tapping the selection. 800 is the native ISO.

Where to set WHITE BALANCE (color temperature) o To set the white balance, on the LCD Touchscreen, tap the WB indicator on the top row.

You can choose from various presets. To set a custom white balance, tap CWB. Drag the slider or tap to arrows to change the value.

If the LCD screen is closed, you can quickly adjust the White Balance (color temperature) by pushing up or down on the WHITE BAL switch on the forward control panel. It’ll adjust the number in 50K increments.

Where to set AUTO WHITE BALANCE (color temperature) o To set the auto white balance, on the LCD Touchscreen, tap the WB indicator on the top

row. To select an auto white balance, tap AWB. A screen will appear with a square on the LCD. Fill the square with a white reference and then tap Update WB.

Where to set LCD MONITOR OPTIONS o To set Zebras, Focus Assist, Frame Guides, Grids, Safe Area Guides, and False Color options,

on the LCD Touchscreen, tap the Monitor indicator on the top left corner. Tap the icon for the setting you want to toggle.

Where to set RESOLUTION o First, press the Menu button on the control panel. The menu dashboard will open on the

LCD screen. o The first menu tab is RECORD. On the first page you can set the Codec, Quality, and

Resolution. Note: You cannot output a 4K signal from the URSA to an external monitor because the SDI cables that we currently have do not support this resolution.

How to use the FULL SENSOR SCAN o Press the Menu button. The menu dashboard will open on the LCD screen. o The first menu tab is RECORD. Tap the arrow on the right of the screen to move to page 2.

To utilize the full sensor scan, Window Sensor should be toggled OFF. o When recording in RAW, you must be in 4.6K resolution to use full scan, otherwise it will be

in windowed.

Where to set LUTs o Press the Menu button. The menu dashboard will open on the LCD screen. o Select the MONITOR tab. Choose which monitor you want to adjust the settings for, either

the LCD, the Front SDI (Viewfinder), Main SDI or All. o Toggle the Display 3D LUT switch On. o Navigate to the LUTS tab. Select the desired LUT and then press the check mark in the

bottom left corner to apply the selection. Where to set CLEAN FEED o Press the Menu button. The menu dashboard will open on the LCD screen. o Select the MONITOR tab. Choose which monitor you want to adjust the settings for, either

the LCD, the Front SDI, or Main SDI. o Toggle the Clean Feed switch On to disable all status text and overlays from that output.

Turn the switch Off to enable the text and overlays for that output.

How to watch video PLAYBACK o To view the last recorded clip, press the ‘play’ button once. Press ‘play” again to watch the

last recorded clip. o Press the ‘forward skip” button to go to the next clip. Press the ‘reverse skip’ button once to

go back to the beginning of the current clip, or press it twice to go to the previous clip.to skip to the next clip.

o When you are finished, press the REC (record) button to exit the playback screen.
