Gravel / Rock Gravel and rock may be used to dissipate energy from water falling from roof drip lines, to create temporary holding areas for run-off (drywells), or to stabilize slopes (rip-rap). Gravel used for infiltration trenches and drywells should be 3/4” to 3” in diameter and should be free of fine sediment and debris.
