July 25 2015: Cerner Recruitment was scheduled on 29th July 2015 @ 8:30 AM @ BMSCE. In this regard Placement Coordinator, Dept., of Computer Applications organized interactive session about Cerner recruitment process, expectations of Cerner for MCA students with Alumni Students currently working with Cerner."

September 19 –20 2015: The Phase Shift 2015 was inaugurated on 19th September 2015 at the indoor stadium which began at around 10.00am with the participants and coordinators. The event was successfully coordinated by all the volunteers with the help of the faculty coordinators ch Ram Mohan Reddy and Shilpa S with the student volunteers Darshan Singh P, Kruthi K Coordinated the overall phase shift event, finance by Apoorva D V and Suresh P,Mukesh M S Upadhyaya, Narasimha Murthy S R and Nithin G for sponsorship along with faculty coordinator Raghavendra Rao.

App World– IEEE WIE “Women safety” , a contest from IEEE – WIE Affinity group was coordinated by Padma Priya V and Smitha S student coordinator Smitha S, along with the judges Ms.Shefali, Ms. Tanu from 2 to 4 PM. Twelve students participated.

Winners -Biswajith , Arpitha Runnerups– Akhila, Sushma and Vidyashree DBHunt - faculty coordinator Dr. K Vijaya Kumar along with Anantha Murthy S R and Devanagouda coordinated the event from 2 PM – 4 PM. 23 Registered, 14 teams from RVCE and BMSCE. Runnerup team -Nithin G and Narasimha Murthy

September 20: CODE JAM -The Hunt for Smart Wiz contest is coordinated by Girish K and Shailaja K P along with students coordinators Srinidhi S A ,Divya S Kongovi from 10 to 12 noon. Thirty Eight students participated from seven colleges.

Web Art – coordinated by V Padmapriya along with students coordinators Yogesh K Bishwajith B N. Eight teams participated from four colleges.

October 14: Department of Computer Applications students of third semester accompanied by six staff members visited TATA ELXSI LIMITED, ITPL Main Road, Thigalarapalya, Hoodi, Bengaluru. Mr. HariBalan, Head Corporate Communications Tata Elxsi corporate overviewed about the company. Industrial Design studio & Prototyping Lab tour was facilitated by Ms. Kalyani Kasara, Associate Manager - Marketing & Communications. Ms. Vanishree Nagraj, Ms. Kalyani Kasara and other staff members extended logistics support in making this event, a stunning success. Hospitality rendered at Tata Elxsi was too good. They provided coffee/tea/mineral water and delicious executive lunch for students and faculties. Tata Elxsi’s Industrial Design division showcased us the kind of support given to the customers to develop endearing brands and products by using design as a strategic tool for business success. Students can able to understand the importance of User Interface design, brand promotion through attractive packing and designing using graphics and 3D printer used in simulating the models for consumer insight, branding, industrial design, visual design & merchandising, design engineering and manufacturing support.

This visit was a news in monthly magazine of TataElxsi as “A batch of final year students from BMS College of Engineering, pursuing their MS in Computer Graphics, visited Tata Elxsi on 14th October 2015, as part of their industrial visit. They were given insights on the User Experience and VFX capabilities of Tata Elxsi, followed by a facility tour.

The highly interactive session was well received by both the faculty and students who were quite thrilled to see the diverse work and sectors that Tata Elxsi is engaged with”.

November 2: Department arranged a small get together in order to appreciate and thank all the students who made the Phase Shift 2015 event a stunning success. As a token of appreciation, Department of C.A issued certificates to all the student coordinators on the day of felicitation.

November 5: Students (Around fifteen) along with faculty coordinators Smt. Shailaja K P and Smt. Pushpa T S participated in the International Seminar “Sweden Education

Day” conducted by Mr. Gustav Wennerblom from Sweden on the “Go-to-market” guru & business strategy expert at Nimhans Convention Center.

November 7 :Dr. D N Sujatha, Prof. & Head, Smt V Padmapriya and three students from III Semester MCA viz., Kum. M Tanushree, Kum. Akshata Joshi and Kum. Archana R participated in IEEE WIE Symposium held in Amrita School of Engineering with a theme “BUILD.EMPOWER.INSPIRE.”. The conference focused on Inspiring young professionals and students in Leadership, Empowerment, Entrepreneurship and also to pursue and build a career in Engineering.

January 4-9 2016: Computer Applications and Civil Engineering Department organized Two Week STTP ISTE workshop on "Introduction to Structural Engineering" conducted by IIT Kharagpur. Participants were from various colleges viz., Jyothy Intstitute of Technology, ACS College of Engineering, East West Institute of Technology, Government Engineering College Ramanagar, Christ College, GovtEngg College (Khushalnagar), Bangalore Institute of Technology, New Horizon College of Engineering and BMSCE.Teaching faculties of this workshop were eminent professors of IIT Kharagpur Prof.S.K.Bhattacharyya, Prof. Baidurya Bhattacharya, Dr. Sushanta Chakraborty. This workshop was mainly focused on understanding basic concepts of Structural analysis and design. The key concepts discussed in this workshop made the participants to understand Fundamentals of Structural Analysis, Fundamentals of

Reinforced concrete design and Fundamentals of steel design. Workshop was designed in such a way that participants were mandated to solve assignments prior to the workshop by applying concepts of structural Engineering. Entire event was coordinated by RC Coordinator Dr. D N Sujatha, Workshop Coordinator Dr. A S Arunkumar, Teaching Assistants Manjunath R, and Pushpa T S, A-View Coordinator Sowmya B, System AdministratorBaktavatsala P and helper Kumari K.

February 3 2016: Ms. Nandini Gowda, IV semester MCA student won second place for the event handball in state level inter-college Tournament- ZEAL (2015-16) held at BMS women’s college from 30th Jan to 2nd Feb.

February 24 2016: A detailed overview of the ‘Techno-Champ’ event was provided by Dr. Sujatha & Girish K, BMS College of Engineering and Mr. Giridhara Ms. Ramya Jayakumar, Sridevi from Altimetrik. A detailed discussion on Internet of things (IoT) and mini ideathon was conducted to bring in more confidence to students to take lead in organizing the techno-champ 2016.

February 25 2016: Mr. Sriram from John Deere joined the meeting along with Mr. Giridhara Ms. Ramya Jayakumar from Altimetrik, Dr. Sujatha & Girish K, BMS College of Engineering. The team held ‘Train the Trainer’ program for Techno-Champ ambassadors at ICL. The meeting concluded after detailed interactive session between the team and the techno-champ ambassador.

March 12 2016: WIE Affinity Group Activity: Department of Computer Applications in association with WIE Affinity Group, IEEE Bangalore Section organized a networking event “ PARICHAYA” for WIE members across Bangalore.

April 17 2016: Smt V.Padmapriya, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Applications, was a Panelist representing the role of academic institutions in nurturing budding Entrepreneurs in the Panel discussion on “Women Entrepreneurs - their role in today’s world” at KLS Gogte Institute of Technology, Belagavi which hosted the IEEE congress of the North Karnataka Hub NKSYWC – 2016

April 24 2016: WiE Affinity group of IEEE – Bangalore section organized Parichaya networking event for the WiE Affinity group across Karnataka hosted by MSRIT, Bangalore, on 24th April, 2016. The event was organized by Dr D N Sujatha, Chair, Women in Engineering, IEEE-Bangalore Section. Faculty volunteer Mrs. V.Padmapriya and student volunteers Smitha S, Divya, Supriya and Shruthi joined Dr Sujatha in organizing this event.
