Required Tools:

• Small flat head screwdriver

• Phillips head screwdriver

IMPORTANT: If you are unfamiliar with automotive electrical systems, see a mechanic or car-stereo installer. Some knowledge of automotive electrical systems and of interior trim removal is necessary to do it yourself.

IMPORTANT: The instructions listed below assume that you already have your Valentine One® hard-wired into the overhead console. The installation of your Valentine One® is not covered in this installation guide.

To Install StealthOne:

(1) Select an appropriate location to install your Valentine One® using any of the methods described in the Valentine One® owner’s manual. We recommend that you use the direct wire power adapter provided with your Valentine One® and tap into a switched 12v wire in the overhead console. This will allow you to place the Valentine One® at the top of the front windshield to give it the best unobstructed front and rear view.

You can find an excellent set of instructions on how to hard-wiring your Valentine One® at: http://www.x5world.com/v1hard.htm

(2) Remove the passenger side sun visor mounting clip using a T20 Torx screwdriver.

(3) Use a small flat blade screwdriver to carefully pry off the plastic cover off the passenger side sun visor mounting plate. Remove the two screws attaching the sun visor to the headliner using a T20 Torx screwdriver. Disconnect the power cable from the sun visor.

(4) The next step is to remove the overhead console. First remove the HomeLink® control panel using a small flat blade screwdriver to carefully pry near the front of the panel.

(5) Pull down the front of the HomeLink® module to remove.

Disconnect the wire going to the HomeLink® module.

(6) Now remove the sunroof switch and BMW Assist switch if equipped or the blank cover by reaching through the hole and pressing down on the top of the switch with your fingers.

(7) Now you should have easy access to the light module.

Use your fingers to press the two metal tabs to release the light module.

Pull the light module down and disconnect the wire.

(8) Remove the two T10 Torx screws at the front of the overhead console.

Remove the two phillips head screws that secure the headliner to the roof.

(9) Open the sunglass storage area.

Now remove the two T10 Torx screws at the rear of the overhead console, and remove the overhead console.

(10) Now you should have enough slack in the headliner to insert the single black I-BUS wire attached to StealthOne I-Bus Interface cable through the overhead console and through the gap between the headliner and windshield.

Since you removed the sun visor clip you will be able to pull down the headliner a little to pass the wire through.

Pull all the wire through the gap leaving about a 12” length in the overhead console.

(11) Plug one end of the 2 ft. RJ-11 modular Power Cable provided with StealthOne into the Valentine One® hard wire adapter Accessory (ACC) port, plug the other end into StealthOne’s “V1 ACC” port.

(12) Plug the end of the RJ-11 modular Interface Cable that has the black I-BUS wire attached to it into the StealthOne I-BUS/AUX port. Do not connect the other modular plug to anything. Let the wire hang loose, but locate it in a convenient location. This modular plug will be used for in car programming of any future StealthOne software updates.

(13) Insert the StealthOne module above the driver’s side headliner.

(14) Now carefully tuck the I-BUS wire that you inserted between the headliner and windshield into the headliner using the flat blade screwdriver as necessary.

Continue along the length of the windshield, and down along the A-Pillar until you reach the dashboard.

Now insert the wire into the gap between the A-Pillar and the dashboard.

TIP: If the wire keeps popping out when inserted along the A-Pillar, wrap some electrical tape around it a couple of times to thicken up the wire a little. Do this about every five inches. You should still be able to insert the wire into the gap, but now it won’t pop out as easily.

(15) Continue routing the wire until you reach the bottom of the dashboard.

(16) The next step is to locate an I-BUS wire in your BMW. The easiest place to tap into an I-BUS wire is behind the radio.

To make it easier to route the wire to the radio, we need to remove the kick panel below the glove box.

Turn the two plastic screws holding the kick panel and then remove the panel by pulling it down and towards you.

(17a) If you have the Multi-Information Display (MID), remove the MID by first removing the volume knob, and then insert a T10 Torx screwdriver at the bottom of the volume opening and turn counter clockwise while simultaneously pulling on the screwdriver.

Disconnect the wire going to the MID.

(17b) If you have the Navigation (NAV) Option, remove the navigation display by first carefully removing the plastic trim around the display. It is easier to remove the trim if the display is in the open position.

Now remove the four (4) T10 Torx screws that secure the display, and then remove the display.

Disconnect the wire going to the NAV display.

(18) Locate the white/yellow/grey I-Bus wire in the wires going to the MID or NAV. You may have to pull off some of the black tape to see the wire.

Attach the red 3M T-Tap connector provided with your StealthOne onto the I-BUS wire using pliers to carefully squeeze the connector until it snaps shut. Only a small amount of force is needed to close the T-Tap.

(19) Now route the black StealthOne I-Bus wire along the bottom of the dash and and up until it comes out of the opening for the MID or NAV. Connect the black wire from the StealthOne to the T-Tap you attached to the white/yellow/grey I-Bus wire.

(20) You are now ready to test your StealthOne. Turn on the ignition and follow the instructions in the StealthOne Owners Manual to select you vehicle model.

(21) Once you have verified it is working correctly reinstall everything in the reverse order.
