Digital Interactive Educational Solution
NGO Partner: Rotary Club of Pune South
Installation of Edu-projectors in schools and
study centers for underprivileged children
The Rotary Club of Pune South has a mission of
‘Literate India’ by 2016. As part of that mission and
considering the shortage of teachers in Zilla Parishad
and municipal schools from urban and rural areas, BNY
Mellon supported these schools with Edu-projectors.
This Edu-projector is the world’s first eco-friendly
portable Wi-Fi enabled high definition DLP LED
projector that operates on an Android operating system.
It also works on solar energy, thus making it very useful
in disseminating Digital Interactive Education to remote
rural areas. The school syllabus for Std.1 to Std.10 has
been translated into the regional language (Marathi)
and uploaded on this projector.
It is very user friendly and interactive with lots of
animated games, quizzes and pictorial presentations of
each lesson.
Community Impact: Installation of 36 Edu-projectors
benefitting 12,000 children
Community Impact:
600 students benefitted
Digital Education
NGO Partner: Seva Sahyog Foundation
Setting up a Computer Laboratory at
Pune Police Public School
Seva Sahyog Foundation is a “Not-for-Profit”
organisation engaging socially conscious corporates,
groups and individuals with grass-root level NGOs of
matching interests. BNY Mellon India, along with Seva
Sahyog Foundation, identified a need to enhance digital
literacy in the Police Public School in Pune. The project
included :
• Installation of 20 new computers for Police Public
School.
• Aptitude test conducted for students in Std. 10
• Computer Masti programme for 100 students
Surgical Equipment for Sassoon Hospital
NGO Partner: Society of Friends of Sassoon
Hospitals (SOFOSH)
Donation of Surgical Equipment
Sassoon Hospital is a government hospital treating the
underprivileged community of Pune. Annually, more than
500,000 patients walk through the doors of Sassoon
Hospital, of which, around 60,000 patients are admitted
for treatment. Approximately 18,000 surgeries are
performed annually in Sassoon Hospital.
In order to support this high volume of surgeries,
additional surgical equipment was requested by the
hospital. BNY Mellon partnered with SOFOSH to sponsor
the following equipment in June, 2015:
• 30 Electro-surgical Cautery Machines
• 24 Suction Machines
• 16 Mayo’s Trolleys
• 20 Instrument Trolleys
Community Impact: 13,500 + patients benefitted
per month

Creation of Ideal Village at Jadhavwadi
NGO Partner: Awakening Jagriti
Holistic development of the village
Awakening Jagriti is actively involved in the promotion of agriculture sustainability through “Natural
Resource Management.” They follow an “Integrated Rural Development” approach of working
collaboratively on issues of women, children and youth.
‘Jadhavwadi’, a village 70 kilometers away from Pune was identified. This village had poor
infrastructural facilities such as roads, electricity and water. Poor health facilities and outreach
services caused malnourishment amongst women and children. Poor education facilities
hampered child development.
BNY Mellon India, with the help of Awakening Jagriti, helped transform Jadhavwadi into an ideal
village, through a holistic development approach by:
• Construction of bore wells for agriculture (Water conservation technology)
• Creation of agro-based livelihood opportunities (Farmers’ club, adopting advanced
agricultural practices for livestock development and initiation of business
• Awareness on health and hygiene practices (Construction of toilets, distribution of water
filters, provision of preventive health services etc.)
• Promotion of early child care and education (Construction of pre - Primary Center)
• Strengthening Local Governing Bodies and Community Based Organizations
Community Impact:
• 1,500 + villagers benefitted
• Reduction in waterborne related
illnesses

Water Conservation & Purification in Siddhegavan Village
NGO Partner: International Association for Human Values
Building 2 check dams & installation of Water Filtration Plant (Reverse Osmosis)
International Association of Human Values works effectively for community development and
water conservation all over India.
‘Siddhegavhan’ is a village 45 kilometres away from Pune with 120 households. Farming is the
main occupation in this village, and hence a need for water conservation was identified. Since
International Association for Human Values was already working in this village, they recognised
the need for pure drinking water as well, and hence, with their help, BNY Mellon India supported
the following activities in Siddhegavan Village:
• Excavation of a water body that had poisonous weed growing around
• Construction of two check dams
• Community development activities to bring a change in the mind-set of villagers, to make
them more responsible towards the development of their village
• Setting up of a Reverse Osmosis based filtration plant for safe drinking water
Community Impact:
100 women enrolled in women empowerment programme
Women Empowerment
NGO Partner: Seva Sahyog Foundation
Training women in various trades to
generate income
Seva Sahyog Foundation is a “Not-for-Profit”
organisation, engaging socially conscious
corporates, groups and individuals, with grass-root
level NGOs of matching interests. BNY Mellon India,
along with Seva Sahyog Foundation, identified a
need for the welfare of families of Police personnel
in Pune.
Women from Shivaji Nagar Police Quarters
underwent training in various fields to create income
generation opportunities for them. They also
