What a proud moment for all of us when our Year 5 students put themselves forward to be considered for the role of school captain on Wednesday. The speeches that all of the students delivered were well constructed, thoughtful and delivered with confidence. I know the elected representatives will be wonderful leaders of our student body. For those students who miss out, it’s natural to feel disappointment, however, I’m sure they’ll all be happy for their peers. Students can also nominate themselves for the position of house captain and/or as an SRC Representative. Our student leadership program is growing and it’s wonderful that our students have the opportunity to be a voice in our school. For the past two days, I have been attending a Leading and Sustaining a Quality Learning Culture Conference in Maitland. It is a professional learning program that builds the capabilities of teacher leaders and executive mentors to lead and sustain a quality, collaborative learning culture in our school community with a focus on the pursuit of excellence in learning, teaching and leading through evidence-based practice. I have been developing an implementation and progress monitoring plan to ensure we continue to deliver a quality education to all of our children. It was disappointing that I was unable to attend the Kindergarten Graduation Assembly today, however, I know that we are extremely proud of our Kindergarten students for demonstrating perseverance and resilience in their first year of school. Thank you to Mrs Ferguson, Mrs Lang, Mrs Davis and Mrs Wigg for their wonderful work with our Kindergarten students and families over the past 12 months. I can confirm that we have had two staffing appointments confirmed over the past week. Mrs Laurel Boyd will join Boambee PS as Assistant Principal and Mrs Jodi Leader will join us as a classroom teacher. Both are very excited to join our community and I’m sure you’ll give them a great Boambee welcome! I hope to see you at our Parent Helper Morning Tea on Thursday, commencing at 11am. The coffee van will be on site from 10:30am. We would like to thank you for your continued support and if you can’t make it on the day, a BIG thanks from all staff, students and parents! You may have heard that the NSW Teachers Federation has called a stop work meeting for Thursday, 8th December. The meeting is scheduled to commence at 8:30am and staff attending will return to school shortly thereafter when the meeting concludes. Some staff from Boambee will be attending the meeting so at this stage, minimal supervision will be in operation at Boambee PS until such time as all staff return to school. Have a great weekend.
