Academic Progress! Georgia Milestones Assessment System (GMAS) End of Grade and End of Course Tests SY 2018-19 At the Regular Meeting of the Board of Education, Board Members were presented a report on student achievement on GMAS End of Grade and End of Course assessments during the past school year. Key points include:
The district continues to strengthen performance in math, achieving both one- and three-year gains and meeting or exceeding the comparison group at the elementary, middle, and high school level.
At the high school level, the district outperformed its comparison group in all four content areas and surpassed the comparison group in every individual EOC subject except Economics.
The district is making the greatest gains and meeting improvement targets for all content areas in middle grades and high school.
Although the district made progress in elementary grades math, overall the elementary grades did not meet the annual target and fell below the comparison group in all content areas except math.
We are proud of our students and teachers!

Board Governance Team Self-Assessment Tool Presented
At the Informal Meeting of the Board, Dr. Dionne Hoskins-Brown presented colleagues
with the governance team self-assessment, which is based upon the Georgia State
Board of Education Standards for Effective Governance. It is intended to provide the
board and superintendent a status review on implementation of identified best
governance practices with the roles and responsibilities of the governance team clarified
and quantified. The self-assessment instrument is not intended to be utilized as an
evaluation instrument, but is designed to provide benchmarks for the governance team
and for their consideration in establishing improvements of governance best practices.
