INNIS ARDEN BOARD MEETING MINUTES August 8, 2017

The meeting was called to order at 7:03 PM by President Easton Craft. Board members present: Easton Craft, Dave Fosmire, Mag-gie Taber, B.J. Oneal, and Kathi Peterson, and Steven Johnston. Members absent: Jim McCulluch and Cindy Esselman. Meetings minutes from the July board meeting were approved. PRESIDENT, Easton Craft Redditt: The current owner is in the process of removing the 4 trees on the former Redditt property. Letter regarding erosion in the Storm Creek outflow area The Club has been in contact with the neighbors abutting the out-flow areas at the bottom of 15th ave. We are working with the homeowners to schedule a meeting with the city later this month or early next month to review the situation. It is important to note that the Club is not responsible for the stormwater management system and will encourage City of Shoreline to resolve the situa-tion to the neighbors’ and the Club’s satisfaction. In an effort to better understand the current situation it is im-portant to update to the previous hydrology report. This infor-mation will be key when the Club and neighbors meet with the City. A motion was proposed, seconded, and approved in order to update the previous hydrology report. I would like to ask the Board for a motion to from the to fund this update. Pool Update The building is expected to be finished in two weeks. A grand opening celebration is in planning to which the entire neighbor-hood will be invited. The Pool Board will send out details later this month. I would also like to thank the members of the Pool Board and the volunteers who helped make the All Cities races a success. Con-gratulations on an exciting event and great work by the IA swim-mers and Swim Team coaches who had great races. VICE PRESIDENT/COMPLIANCE, Dave Fosmire NOTE: All Compliance hearings are held at the Innis Arden Club-house at 7:00PM unless noted otherwise. There was no response from Ms. Hjelle or Mr. Tynan so fines will be imposed according to the Board's June 14, 2017 decision and a notice of violation will be recorded. The hearing in the Mercker matter will be postponed from August 9th until September 13th. BUILDING AND REMODEL, Cindy Esselman – presented by Easton Craft No new projects to consider for August.

Upcoming projects for September:

Garden Shed Friend Residence 1537 NW 186th St

Remodel Bargreen Residence 17735 17th NW The Bargreens are putting up story poles this week for neighbor-hood review. Board review is planned for the September Board meeting. TREASURER, Jeff Gough - The Club Operating Checking balance is $51,964, the Collections Savings balance is $378,125, and the Asset Reserve Savings balance is $150,345. About $4,500 remain in outstanding dues still owed to the Club. CLUBHOUSE, Kathi Peterson – July is always one of our busiest months and this year was no exception. Income was at $3,300 and refunds were $125. The Clubhouse held Innis Arden residents’ parties, two weddings, numerous concession events for Innis Arden Swim Club meets, the annual community Salmon Barbecue, and neighborhood meetings. All but one client left the Clubhouse in great shape. The one client who did not leave the Clubhouse correctly was not a resident and lost their damage deposit. They were, however, a sponsored guest. Please remember when a resident sponsors a guest, the resident assumes liability for any damage as a result of that guest’s event. I am awaiting one more bid for the bathroom renovation before submitting the bids to the Board for a final contractor selection. The clubhouse has seen consistent use this spring and summer so work will be scheduled sometime in the fall when the club-house doesn't see as high a demand. I have spoken with Innis Arden resident Pat French regarding the purchase and installation of a projector for the clubhouse. When his summer schedule allows, we will shop and provide a way for presentations to be projected inside the clubhouse for Board meetings, weddings, memorials and other community functions either on a temporary or permanent basis. GROUNDS, Jim McCulloch – presented by Easton Craft This year’s objectives for the Grounds Committee is as follows:

Maintain and improve the existing lawn and planting beds around the Clubhouse in anticipation of the new Pool House and hosting of the Inter City Swim Championships in August,

Maintain and protect the recent investment in the Innis Arden Main Entrance and other Innis Arden Entrances.

Work Items Completed for July: Monthly maintenance by Greg Paquette, Grounds Manager:

Periodic cleaning of the grounds, emptying of trash cans, and general vegetation management.

Periodic maintenance, cleaning and vegetation control of the main entrance.

Mowing main grass areas; mowing is expected to continue on an as-needed basis, typically once per week, through October.

Irrigation of Grounds lawns is underway. To date, the new controller has saved over 140,000 gallons by monitoring rain-fall and evaporation rates.

Annual Items completed this month by Greg Paquette, Grounds Manager:

Fertilize lawn areas.

Repair irrigation system Work Items Scheduled for August:

Continue weekly mowing and irrigation of lawns, and neces-sary maintenance and clean-up.

Other Items

Damage by the Pool House contractor to the lawn area adja-cent to the construction and irrigation wiring will be ad-dressed this fall during the next growing season.

Irrigation: Advanced Irrigation (irrigation contractor) assisted with identifying repairs of the irrigation system discovered during the start-up of the new controller. We now have all major irrigation zones operating automatically. However, we have not been able to find two zone valves, and have one other that appears damaged. This will be corrected in the fall when we address lawn and irrigation repairs with the pool house contractor.

The laurel bushes east of the tennis court are being removed due to recent use of the bushes as a “fort” from which some unknown kids have harassed the adjacent neighbors. Re-moval of the laurels is also consistent with eradication of in-vasive plants.

Two residents have voiced a desire to 8upgrade the existing playground structures. People interested in volunteering to assist in choosing potential upgrades and providing a budget, please contact the Grounds Chair.

Advanced Irrigation recommended IA have a professional plan for irrigation coverage be drawn so as to reduce water usage. Our current system has minimal coverage in some areas and double to triple coverage in others, causing nearly 50% of the field to be overwatered in order to provide proper moisture in the rest of the field. Estimate for a plan was giv-en by Advance Irrigation for $1,500, which is under consider-ation.

NATURAL RESERVES, Steve Johnston Trails Maintenance Our Grounds/Trails Manager, Greg Paquettte has been doing a great job keeping the trail system free of shrubs and weeds. Invasive Plant Control Our native plant and invasive plant control specialists, Garden Cycles, are providing excellent seasonal invasive plant control in many of the Reserves this summer. As anyone who spends much time in the Reserves knows, there are significant and wide-spread invasive plant infestations, which we are doing our best to counter. I believe we are making steady progress, but we are in this for the long haul, and will need adjacent property owners to ensure their properties are not the source for additional invasive plant infestations in the common Reserves. Drought

Here we are again. At the beginning of August, typically the dri-est month of the year, our area has been cooking under the long-est dry spell (52 days today and counting) since the record began in 1894. Many trees and shrubs in the Reserves are extremely water-stressed already, and we anticipate significant die-off again next year (as we did following the summer drought in 2015) should the drought continue. We have scheduled an arborist to make a field visit to the Reserves, to do a vegetation health evalu-ation and fire risk assessment. ACTIVITIES, Maggie Taber - Save the dates:
