This plan represents our best thinking to date. We recognize that much has changed in our world and w i ll change when i t comes to the COVID- 19 crisis. We wi ll continue to receive feedback from our staff, students and school community as we follow health and prevention and safety guidance for our in- person learning. In the coming weeks and months, we wi ll need to continue to have grace and be flexible as we navigate this ever changing landscape.

Charter schools have the autonomy to design their own operations and education delivery opportunities, but must comply w ith local, state and national emergency declarations and public health orders like all other public schools. Therefore, Charter Schools w i ll communicate their fall plans directly to their families.

Douglas County School Dist r ict w i l l cont inue to col laborate w i th Tr i -County Heal th Depar tm ent and the Colorado Depar tm ent of Educat ion to ensure a safe and heal thy learn ing envi ronm ent for each student and staf f .

Wi th our schools reopening at 100% capaci t y, six foot social distancing w i l l be a chal lenge.

Heal th & Safety Guidel ines3. Dai ly Sym ptom Checks

○ Staf f and students w i l l be requi red to com plete a dai ly sym ptom check, preferably at hom e before ar r iving at work or school . Each day they are at a DCSD bui lding, staf f and students w i l l enter thei r cur rent tem perature and answer a few sym ptom quest ions (such as cough, sore throat , et c.) in to a form each day. Those wi th a tem perature of 100 degrees or h igher w i l l be asked to return hom e.

○ Should a student or staf f m em ber begin to feel i l l dur ing the school day, they w i l l be asked to return hom e.

Heal th & Safety Guidel ines4. Handwash ing and San i t i zing

● Our classroom teachers and counselors w i l l cont inue to educate students on the im por tance of handwashing to prevent t he spread of vi ruses.

● Students w i l l have dedicated t im e to wash thei r hands before eat ing and when return ing inside f rom recess.

● Bathroom soap dispensers w i l l be checked f requent ly and ref i l led as needed. Posters w i l l be displayed in and around bathroom s and wash areas rem inding students of t he im por tance of hand washing.

● Hand sani t izer stat ions wi l l be located in a var iet y of areas around each school and wi l l be checked f requent ly and ref i l led as needed.

● Students and staf f w i l l be encouraged and rem inded to wash hands regular ly; use hand sani t izer ; avoid t ouching eyes, nose, and m outh; and proper ly cover coughs and sneezes.
