The year-long preparation for our 2016 POGS Annual Convention and 70th Year Anniversary Celebration seemed so short because of the many challenges and difficulties that confront us with economic demands of the times and it will be just a matter of days to target date.

The Organizing Committee and the Board of Trustees have worked hard to shape up a convention worthy to be offered to each member of our esteemed organization – POGS. The date is on November 8-11, 2016 at the PICC and Sofitel as our venues with the theme “POGS @70, Sustaining Efforts for Quality Women’s Health”. The sports activities will be on November 06, 2016 with the theme “Run Twogether for Women’s Health” at Camp Aguinaldo Parade Grounds. It will be a buddy run and everyone is enjoined to participate in the spirit of “#Takbo Para sa Ligtas na Pagbubuntis”, our advocacy.

Our dynamic Scientific Committee and amazing Ways and Means Committee really worked hard to bring you an awesome line up of International Experts, foreign and local breeds who will selflessly share with us updated knowledge and skills on what is going on around the globe to learn to better serve our patients. Among those international experts are Dr. John P. Newnham (Australia) who will discuss on the Prevention of Preterm Births and will tackle Diabetes and Obesity Epidemics. Dr. Paul Fogarty (North Ireland) to take up Reducing Global Stillbirths to include Patient Safety, A Global Concern. Dr. Chyi-Long Lee (Taiwan) will update us on Laparoscopic Surgery in Ovarian Cancers and to share with us the experience of a thousand Laparoscopic Radical Hysterectomy in Early Cervical Cancer is Dr. JH Nam (Korea) and Dr. Austin Ugwumadu (United Kingdom) to take up Subclinical Infections and Mid-trimester Pregnancy Loss and Management of Perinatal GBS Disease. Our very own experts will have topics on common Obstetrical and Gynecological conditions and what’s up in technology

Message and their current status to improve diagnosis and management to showcase on what we can do. There will be open dialogue sessions on Philhealth and AHMOPI concerns and an hour with the President.

This Annual Convention activity is all for you. The social events on the first day includes the Opening Ceremonies where about 400 plus Diplomates will be inducted and because of the increased numbers of Diplomates there will be a change in the usual manner of the induction ceremony which you will be informed through the PBOG communication. Awardees will be acknowledged also for their outstanding contributions to POGS. This will be followed by the Welcome Reception to listen to the songs of the famous Mr. Joey Generoso and dance to it. On November 09, 2016, in the Fellowship Night there will be a Broadway Musical to be participated in by our Regional members and to enjoy Mr. Matteo Guidicelli’s rendition of his music and other exciting guest singers. It will be a time to remember, promise.

We hope that all members will have the time to really sit down in the Scientific Sessions. Please block these dates so there will be no reason not to be in full attendance and be punctual. Please be reminded that because of the strict compliance of our venues to the government’s regulation of the fire code, we may have to maximize our seats in each session room and only to occupy the allowed sitting capacities so, please come early.
