Case Study

Nathan is a grade 5 student learning how to use 2 switches to scan and select items on his SETBC computer. He is a very visual learner and videos capture his attention. His teacher is very excited to start to determine what level of understanding Nathan has and for him to independently show his work in the classroom setting.

The templates that currently exist in BMS for switch users are too complicated for Nathan who is just starting to use switches. A simple scanning activity will be created from a blank page with gadgets to bring the level of switch navigation to a minimum and give him lots of practice using his switches with motivating videos.

There are 2 other students in the room that struggle with reading and writing but can record their thoughts and ideas. The template can be modified to include a recording component to allow all learners in the classroom to have access to the activity.
