Plan RequirementsEach District is required to create the following plans:

Minimal SocialDistancing

Least restrictive for school reopening. Will be implemented if COVID-19 metrics stabilize and/or

move in a positive direction.

Moderate Social Distancing

More restrictions for social distancing and reduced density.

Will be required if COVID-19 metrics worsen.

Remote Learning Only

Suspend in-person learning & implement remote learning plans. Will be implemented if COVID-19

metrics worsen significantly.

The Governor and NCDHHS will determine how schools can reopen safely for the 2020-21 school year by July 1, 2020.

Will attend school daily at assigned elementary and middle schools:• EC Pre-K• K-6th Graders• EC self-contained• Students attending Special Schools• OSC students• EL Students

Will attend school at assigned high schools on a Cohort A and Cohort B rotation.

• 7th through 9th Graders

Will attend school virtually:

• 10th through 12th Graders• Virtual - Monday and Tuesday• Tutoring/Face to Face - Wednesday• Virtual - Thursday and Friday

Principals will set up CARE and Screening teams at each school.

* High School students who are academically and/or emotionally at risk will receive tutoring and support at nearby community centers.

Transportation and Pre-K

General Pre-K will be suspended through October; we will reassess feasibility at that time.

• Transportation will continue for EC who have a transportation requirement included in the IEP and McKinney-Vento students.

• All others will receive transportation based on availability.

All students will engage in online learning.

• Dollars from contracts not needed during remote learning will be used for: hiring Homebound teachers, technology, books, CARE teams and food delivery options.

• Students who are not engaging will be identified in August and will be assigned a Homebound teacher.

* Principals will set up CARE teams to help support students who are academically and/or emotionally at risk so they can receive tutoring and support at nearby community centers.

• Begin work on implementing our education plan

• Wait for Governor Cooper to make the announcement
