5th Avenue Theatre2017–2018 Season Tickets

Season tickets include free

parking and all fees, plus free ticket exchange up to 24 hours in advance. Shows include:

Something Rotten!—Set in the 1590s, two brothers set out to write the world’s first musical after a soothsayer foretells that the future of theater involves singing, dancing, and acting.Ragtime—It’s the turn of the century; everything is changing. Set in the volatile melting pot of New York City, three distinct American stories are woven together: an upper-class wife, a deter-mined Jewish immigrant, and a daring, young Harlem musician are united by their desire and belief in a brighter tomorrow. Irving Berlin's Holiday Inn—This wonderful new musical is inspired by the Oscar-winning film and features lavish sets and cos-tumes, spectacular choreography, and 20 Irving Berlin songs. Jim leaves the bright lights of show business to settle down on a farm, but he finds the simple life is not as simple as he thought. Intermission! The Musical!—Jerry Zucker, the master of wacky comedies including cinematic sensations Airplane! and The Naked Gun, directs this story of two dim-witted brothers who receive an e-mail claiming that money has been left to them by a relative they never knew. They each fall in love, get caught up in a military coup, join a band of revolutionaries, and have to save the country. Ride the Cyclone—At 8:17 p.m., the Saint Cassian High School Chamber Choir boards the Cyclone roller coaster. At 8:19, they meet their tragic demise. Trapped in carnival-like purgatory, the recently deceased discover a mechanical fortune-teller who invites them to tell their stories of life interrupted, with the promise of a prize like no other.Kiss Me, Kate—This Tony Award-winning masterpiece set the standard for great musicals and then broke the mold. This sparkly sensation is, at its core, a true battle of the sexes. The Hunchback of Notre Dame—A retelling of Victor Hugo’s mas-terpiece, this tale of love, faith, and prejudice will leave you spell-bound. Its lush score features songs from the Disney animated feature and new music from legendary composers Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz, unlike anything in musical theater today. Note: Tickets must be purchased in even numbers.

When the Baker and his wife learn they have been cursed by a witch, their quest to break the spell may have devastating results. Disney’s Newsies—Based on the true events of the newsboys’ strike of 1899, this cult Disney movie-musical favorite takes life on stage when a crew of underdog newsies become unlikely heroes standing up for what’s right. The Tony Award-winning and Grammy-nominated musical is full of classic Disney magic and a high-energy explosion of song, dance, and theatricality. The Gin Game—Snappy dialogue and quick wit crackle in this Pulitzer Prize-winning play that was called, “the closest thing the theater offers to a duel at 10 paces” by The New York Times. On a lonely visitor’s day at a home for the aged, Weller teaches Fonsia to play gin rummy. But as the two get to know each other, and Fonsia goes on an instant winning streak, the tension starts to build within their new friendship. When the eldest falls in love with a mortal, everything changes.Hairspray—Tracy Turnblad is a big girl with big hair and an even bigger dream: to dance her way onto national TV, dethrone the reigning teen queen, win the affections of the local heartthrob, and integrate a TV network—all without denting her ‘do.
