Dear Families, Another week of remote learning has almost come and gone at Boisdale. Hopefully you have managed to work through any inial technological challenges that you may have been having at the start of term and have now been able to establish a solid roune that works for you and your tribe of learners. Video Conferences It has been great to see many of our Boisdale students engaging with learning tasks on Seesaw and Google Classroom and it has also been great to see so many of our students engaging with their teachers in video conferences through Webex as well. Webex is the soſtware program that we will be using to host video conferences with students and although we are sll the process of rolling this out, teachers have found that the best way to learn how to use this soſtware is to just give it a go. Students and teachers have thoroughly enjoyed giving this a go and although there have been a few small hiccups, overall these video conferences have been great and have provided students and teachers with a great opportunity to interact with one another. Moving forward, parcipaon in these video conferences will be oponal as we understand the ming of these may not work for all families. Over the next week we will aim to provide all students across the school with the opportunity to link up with their teachers through a regular video conference check in. Google Classroom Login Errors Unfortunately, some of our students using Google Classroom have experienced some errors with logging in, parcularly when logging on to a new device for the first me. This hasnt affected all students, but for those who it has affected, an error message has been appearing which says students, dont have the correct permissions to access the site”. This seems to be happening as a result of a mistake that we made when first seng up the student accounts. Thankfully, it is an easy fix and just requires a quick password reset which I am able to do rather quickly. So if this problem affects you, please email me directly via [email protected] and I will get things working again as soon as possible. Sorry about any conveniences that this causes. Look After Yourselves I have no doubt that the novelty of remote learning has worn off for many students and families. I’m sure that we are all itching for things to get back to normal and cannot wait for all of this remote learning to be over and done with. Whilst we wait for decisions to be made that are out of our control, it can be easy to become overwhelmed and to feel like you are not on top of things. Don’t forget everyone is going through the same challenges and we are here to support you every step of the way. It is okay to take things easy, to break up learning tasks and even have a few minimal learning days. It is fine to just read, do some cooking or gardening, to help out on the farm, to do a puzzle, and watch some ABC Education programs on the television. At the end of the day, our health and wellbeing is paramount and shouldn’t be sacrificed in the interest of completing any of the learning tasks that we set on Google Classroom or on Seesaw. Enjoy this extra time that you have as a family, who knows, one day you might even look back with fond memories

of that time when remote learning happened!

Stay Safe,

Daniel Clark

Hello Families, Even though we aren’t at school, that doesn’t mean that we can’t have our house cross county. As of next week you have 2 weeks to earn points for your house (Monday 4th May – Friday 15th May). You can earn it in a few different ways: 1. You can earn 5 points if you send your teacher a picture of you in your house colours. 2. You can earn another 5 points if you send a picture of you exercising. You do not have to run, it could be a bike ride, walk, workout in the house/backyard. 3. You can earn 2 bonus points for getting your family members to dress up and compete in the activity with you. 4. You can earn another 2 bonus points if you include how long it took you to exercise and how far/how many of each exercise you did. Your teachers can also earn points for their houses as well (maybe we just share this secret with Green House!!!!) If you are wanting to run the correct distance for each age group it is approximately:

Foundation/prep – 800m

Grade 1/2 – 1.2km

Grade 3/4 – 2km

Grade 5/6 – 3km

We look forward to seeing you all in action earning points for your house! From Boisdale Staff

CANTEEN NEWS

Hello, I hope everyone is settling into learning at home, I know it can be a challenge! Let’s have some fun and try to keep a little familiarity to our new learning environment; tomorrow is normally a Canteen Day! I have 4 ex BCS kids here at home that are keen for lunch orders tomorrow! This is what we will be making; iNibble for Morning Tea- Carrot sticks, Cucumber sticks, Cherry Tomatoes, Cheese slices, Rice Crackers & Dip

BCS Burger for Lunch- 1 Beef Patty (little to no fat), 2 short cut bacon slices, 1 Bread Roll, Butter, BBQ sauce, 1 Cheese slice and a handful of Salad mix

We have worked out how much of each ingredient we will need to feed 5 people, made a shopping list for the ingredients we needed to buy and I have been shopping for what we needed. To make things super easy for the morning we have prepared our carrot and cucumber sticks tonight and cut our cheese, so all we have to do is plate up at morning tea time! (Don’t forget to peel your carrots and scrape the seeds out of your cucumber if you are not using baby cucumbers!) *I purchased pre-made par cooked beef patties (these are the closest to the beef patties I buy for school!) You can cook both the bacon and the beef patty on the BBQ (for minimal clean up), in the oven on a foil lined tray (you will need to spray lightly with oil) or in a lightly oiled pan on the stove... If you are following along at home, the key to our famous BCS Burger is the order in which we put it together, so here it is;

1. Cut your roll in half horizontally and butter both the lid and the bottom of your roll

2. Place a slice of cheese on the lid and give it a squirt of BBQ sauce

3. On the bottom half of the roll place a good handful of salad mix

4. On top of the salad mix place your cooked beef patty

5. Your 2 slices of cooked short cut bacon go onto the beef patty

6. Carefully flip your lid on top of the bacon Sit down and enjoy!

What will you make for morning tea or lunch tomorrow from the Canteen Summer Menu? Send us a photo for next weeks newsletter! Next Week I will share with you my recipes for our BCS Banana Muffins and our delicious Tex Mex Chicken Bowl....

Enjoy! Miriam
