Consulado de México en Fresno Monday, September 27 th , 2010 BINATIONAL HEALTH WEEK ---October 4 th to 15 th 2010-- Who: The Consul of Mexico in Fresno, Reyna Torres Mendivil, and the Fresno’s BHW Taskforce for the Counties of Fresno, Madera, Merced, Tulare, Kern and Kings will launch the Binational Health Week (BHW). Local authorities as well as specialists on the areas disability rights and advocacy will participate. Also, numerous activities taking place throughout the Central Valley in the month of October will be announced. What: Binational Health Week (BHW) has become one of the largest combined efforts among federal and state government agencies, community-based organizations, and volunteers in the Americas, geared towards improving the health and well-being of underserved Latino population residing in the United States and Canada. It encompasses an annual weeklong drive of health promotion and health education activities that include workshops, insurance referrals, vaccinations and medical screenings. BHW encourages community based work through the mobilization of a very extensive array of existing resources and volunteers working around a shared and common goal.
