The Notebook of Nightmares

in this notebook, the young reader will find, along with suggestive and disturbing illustrations, all the stories that have never been told, stories that don’t need to be written or spoken in order to exist because they are terri-fying tales that provoke restlessness and doubts, which are reflected on the illustrations. All these elements work together creating a double read-ing level that challenges the sense of logic in the reader, going from a state of wakefulness to that of sleep.

Ricardo Chávez Castañeda was born in Mexico City in 1961. He has written nearly 30 books, some of which have re-ceived important awards such as the San Luis Potosí Short Story Award, the José Rubén Romero Novel Award, the FILIJ Children’s Literature Award, the Juan de la Cabada Award, among others. On the Way Home

A picture book in which fantasy cloaks nostalgia in order to address -with humor, imagination, and tenderness- a difficult subject: absence. At first glance, this is a simple story about a girl and an imaginary friend who ac-company her, however, a closer look reveals that it deals with the Colombi-an social environment and the kind of real problems that children face every day. A plot twist gives the story a sur-prising ending, making it richer and more emotional.

Jairo Buitrago has worked as a writer, researcher, and editorial assistant. He has published two books for children and many more about cinema, his area of specialization.Rafael Yockteng won the IBBY Utopia Award, geared towards Latin American illustrators of children’s books, in 2000. Since then, he has illustrated sev-eral books for children in Colombia and abroad.

How the Memory of the Forest Became

this is a story that reminds us of classic tales. it tells the life story of a simple wooden table built by a woodcutter and how it moved from house to house and master to master. At the same time, the story speaks of the passage of time, love, life, death, gratitude, and human potential. the illustrations weave a rich tapestry of colours and shapes that are based on the text but at the same time add depth to the story with their move-ment and colours, with amusing details for readers to discover.
