The majority of products designed for on-demand remote support are deployed in a cloud model, but not all clouds are created equal. There are major differentiators that have made Bomgar the leader in enterprise remote support.

ConnectWise Control is deployed in a standard SaaS model that requires multiple companies to share use of a single ConnectWise server, increasing the risk of data compromise. In contrast, Bomgar Cloud offers each customer a dedicated environment to decrease vulnerability.

While ConnectWise does offer an on-premise software option, it requires the use of non-standard ports and software configuration, requiring a level of expertise and time investment for installation. Bomgar’s on-premise option is an appliance that requires minimal initial configuration, with extensive customization and integration capabilities.

In contrast, ConnectWise Control has a number of limitations when connecting across different platforms: end users using iOS or BlackBerry devices cannot be supported, and technicians using iOS can only support Windows, Mac, and Linux systems. In addition, ConnectWise uses non-standard ports when connecting across firewalls.

2. ConnectWise Control’s session recording feature can be turned on an off by each individual technician, damaging audit trail reliability

3. ConnectWise does not offer the ability to authenticate technicians via smart card (CAC)

4. ConnectWise Control enables granular assignment of permissions to reps, but only offers about a third the number of permissions Bomgar does
