DESCRIPTION

This project won second place in PAVE's International Student Design Competition in store design. The challenge was to create a pop-up store in NYC for online menswear brand Bonobos. Inspired by the man's typically frustrating and uninspired shopping experience, I aimed to create an unforgettably great one. Using the latest technological innovations combined with a relaxed yet styled atmosphere, men can experience a whole new way of shopping.

DAY JOB : graphic designer

LIKES : technology, whiskey, good food, live music, boating, exploring the city

DISLIKES : shopping, pigeons

STYLE : urban, laid back yet put together [most days]

The search for a fresh, simplified and enjoyable shopping experience is over thanks to Bonobos, an internet-based retailer claiming that they have magic in their pants. We checked out their new pop-up store in the meatpacking district and were excited to find a modern store full of things we love - booze, ninjas, and great clothes.

At the monkey bar in the front of the store you can get a drink while deciding what pants you’d like to try on via iPads at every seat. You can also cruise through their other offerings besides pants (dock shoes, belts and shirts to name a few) and add whatever you’d like to your virtual cart.

Sales associate “ninjas” take care of the parts of shopping we hate - finding your selected size and styles of pants, and having them ready in a fitting room. Getting down to business in the

ack, we found that Bonobos pants actually made our assets ok good. Touch display check-out tables make buying your oices fast and easy, not to mention there’s no standing in line.

They even deliver purchased goods to your home by the end of the day, or whatever time you choose. Now that’s what we call service! Isn’t it about time you actually had fun while buying new clothes?

Jon is on the subway going to meet a friend for lunch and reads about the new Bonobos pop-up store.

While eating, his friend mentions how she visited the store and thought it was really innovative and modern.

Jon decides he definitely needs to check it out and heads to the meatpacking district after lunch to see for himself what all the hype is about.

Jon takes a seat at the monkey bar and is offered a drink from the ninja bartender. He likes the friendly store atmosphere and the fact that he can have a beer while looking at merchandise.

He sees the high quality of shoes and bags on the accessory wall, and thinks that he would like to buy some for himself.

Jon enjoys his drink while selecting what pants to try on, browsing Bonobos’s other merchandise, and adding selections to his virtual cart.

He enjoys finding products while comfortably seated at the monkey bar instead of the usual challenge of competing with other shoppers in a crowded store and hunting through displays to find his desired style and size.

Jon returns home and a messenger comes by later to deliver his purchases. He then recieves an e-mail from Bonobos inviting him to the store closing party later that month.

Jon is impressed by the high quality of his new clothes and accessories, and the level of personal attention he recieved both in and out of the store. He is now a loyal Bonobos customer for life.

As Jon approaches the store for the closing party, he realizes how well the store and the brand fit his style and modern life. He’s about to have a fun night while looking great, all thanks to Bonobos!
