Dear Parents and Friends, The last weeks of a term are usually hectic we are certainly nailing it this term! Teachers have been writing students’ reports and we plan to send these home next Friday, last day of term. You are welcome to make an appointment with your child/children's teacher early next term if you would like to follow up with a chat. As advised by phone message this week, we are pleased to announce that the acting principal next term will be Matt Stewart. Matt is currently a teacher at Burra Community School and comes with leadership experience. Matt is very keen to be here next term and will be meeting staff and students this week. I hope you make him feel welcome. I am confident the school will be in good hands– I know this because we have a great bunch of students, highly professional and skilled staff including Matt and a supportive parent group. Whilst I am on leave next term, I hope to recharge and have a lovely holiday and am looking forward to seeing the good news about what is happening at Booborowie whilst I am away. During the last two weeks, I have had the pleasure of helping to take children on excursions to Adelaide to celebrate their great work during semester one. Last week, we took the junior primary students to the museum to see the dinosaurs and this week, we took the upper primary students to the Rundle Mall so they could go to Adventure Rooms. We had lots of laughs and learnt lots whilst travelling– there are LOTS of trucks on the road (we passed over 480 trucks on the way to Adelaide), only Ford Mustangs are better than Holdens (not all Fords) and it is really funny trying to say the names of signs backwards. Whilst we were on our excursions, staff noticed that our children need to learn how to move through crowded places. Please take your children out and about in the holidays, chat to them about pausing a sec whilst elderly people move across their path, keeping to one side of footpaths or even walking in a straighter line so others can get past them and paying very close attention to traffic—listening to moving vehicles near them and concentrating on the traffic when crossing the road. We see children not focus on traffic in our own parent carpark here at school—sometimes parents are not even able to leave because children are moving around vehicles unsafely. Our children are lucky to enjoy their relaxed country lifestyle without the pressures of city traffic and busyness however, they are seriously at risk if they do not learn traffic awareness and personal safety. Dear Parents and Friends,

The last weeks of a term are usually hectic we are certainly nailing

it this term! Teachers have been writing students’ reports and

we plan to send these home next Friday, last day of term. You are

welcome to make an appointment with your child/children's teacher

early next term if you would like to follow up with a chat.

As advised by phone message this week, we are pleased to

announce that the acting principal next term will be Matt Stewart.

Matt is currently a teacher at Burra Community School and comes

with leadership experience. Matt is very keen to be here next

term and will be meeting staff and students this week. I hope you

make him feel welcome. I am confident the school will be in good

hands– I know this because we have a great bunch of students,

highly professional and skilled staff including Matt and a

supportive parent group. Whilst I am on leave next term, I hope to

recharge and have a lovely holiday and am looking forward to

seeing the good news about what is happening at Booborowie

whilst I am away.

During the last two weeks, I have had the pleasure of helping to

take children on excursions to Adelaide to celebrate their great

work during semester one. Last week, we took the junior primary

students to the museum to see the dinosaurs and this week, we

took the upper primary students to the Rundle Mall so they could

go to Adventure Rooms. We had lots of laughs and learnt lots

whilst travelling– there are LOTS of trucks on the road (we

passed over 480 trucks on the way to Adelaide), only Ford

Mustangs are better than Holdens (not all Fords) and it is really

funny trying to say the names of signs backwards. Whilst we

were on our excursions, staff noticed that our children need to

learn how to move through crowded places. Please take your

children out and about in the holidays, chat to them about pausing

a sec whilst elderly people move across their path, keeping to one

side of footpaths or even walking in a straighter line so others can

get past them and paying very close attention to traffic—listening

to moving vehicles near them and concentrating on the traffic when

crossing the road. We see children not focus on traffic in our own

parent carpark here at school—sometimes parents are not even

able to leave because children are moving around vehicles unsafely.

Our children are lucky to enjoy their relaxed country lifestyle

without the pressures of city traffic and busyness however, they

are seriously at risk if they do not learn traffic awareness and

personal safety.

We went to the museum. I saw a dinosaur tooth. There was a giant squid in the elevator. It was orange. Henry

I saw dinosaur bones. There was lots of animals. It was good. Jonathan

The museum had animals. I did not like the lion. It was scary. Bridie

The mega fauna was interesting. There was a thylacine skull. It is extinct. Some people think the Thylacine is still alive. Jack T

I saw dinosaur bones at the museum. There was a big whales bones in the window. We seen fossils coved in sand. Dylan

I saw an Allosaurus dinosaur tooth. It was bigger than my thumb. There were metal flowers. They looked good. Tex

I liked the lion. There were lots of animals. We saw bones. The lady let us hold them. Nicholas

There was a turtle skeleton. The turtle hides in its shell when it is scared. Mack

BEFORE AFTER

In the Adventure Room we got handcuffed to the prison and we had to try and escape. I really en-joyed using the remote controlled car to get a key to unlock a padlock.

Blayden

I really enjoyed figuring out the puzzles and trying to escape the handcuffs. We got to stop at Bonython Park for a play on the way home. My favourite thing there was a flying fox.

Charlotte W

My favourite part of the excursion was going into the rooms and being handcuffed. I like trying to find the keys to get the handcuffs off. Also eating free Krispy Kreme doughnuts was good too.

Charlotte M

My favourite part of the excursion was playing with the remote control car and the slinky in the rooms. I liked Adelaide.

Jack N

I liked getting handcuffed. We found a cloth hidden in a book. We needed the cloth to wipe the whiteboard and uncover the numbers. We needed the numbers to open the door to find the other group. There was a Rubik Cube with numbers. We had to put the numbers in the right or-der to find the code and open the lock.

Our excursion to “Adventure Rooms” in Rundle Mall made us all excited (including the teachers).

Being handcuffed, driving remote control cars and using cameras was just the beginning. We had 3 differ-

ent rooms to choose and 30 minutes to solve the problems to escape the room. We chose The Mad Scien-

tist room.

Room One

No horror, no violence, nothing. This was just a puzzle. We were handcuffed to a cell door but the teachers

(I’m not sure they were looking forward to it then), were handcuffed to the floor. A chain came up to their

wrists and then it was a handcuff. It was a dim room with thousands of puzzles to solve.

Look for the warm bottles, 20, = 1.23 were just some of the clues. This was crazy! As the last seconds came

up on the computer, we were unlocking padlocks in the cells.

Room Two

A white cell with lots more puzzles to solve. A remote control car played a part in this room. A unicorn

shooting foam balls did too. Water, scales, this room was just as crazy. This is where the camera came in as

well. Pipes led up to the roof and when we stuck the camera in one, we could see letters. S – Y – L – K

which helped to unlock the padlock. The cell was terrible but with crazy surprises such as a key in a ther-

mometer, a weird detector thing and a Rubik cube.

Back in the lobby we took a photo under the sign. Best excursion.
