Dear parents, carers and community members, Welcome to Week 2 as staff work tirelessly to continue to provide online lessons and give feedback to all work posted or delivered to the school. Casino West staff are dedicated and professional about keeping all children engaged in their learning.

Congratulations to all of our families who are assisting students with their learning from home, it has been wonderful to see families dropping off completed work in the tubs outside the office for teachers to review.

ATTENDANCE

Any work a child engages in is considered in attendance. Teachers are monitoring ClassDojo, study ladder and any paperwork which is returned. The education department are monitoring student engagement in learning as attendance. If your child is unwell you should still inform the school as they are marked as sick on the roll. Teachers will continue to follow up any child who appears not to be engaging in learning from home.

MANAGED RETURN TO SCHOOL (starting Monday May 11)

We have carefully planned the one day return to school for next week to ensure all students access the optimum learning on the day. We can only have 25% of students on any one day in order to follow the health guidelines of 10 students in each classroom. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHICH DAY YOUR CHILD IS TO ATTEND. K-2 students will be either Monday or Tuesday and Years 3-6 on either Wednesday or Thursday. There will be half of the class in attendance each day. Students of essential workers will still attend every day.

FOR THE REMAINING DAYS OF THE WEEK STUDENTS WILL CONTINUE TO ENGAGE IN LEARNING FROM HOME.

The unit of work everyone received for term 2 is the work students will be doing online, at school and at home.

At this stage the canteen is not open so every child will have to bring their lunch, recess and drink.

Social distancing, regular hand washing and increased hygiene practices are in place at Casino West Public School as per departmental guidelines. All students will be reminded of these each day. All school expectations will be followed at all times.

Students are to be dropped off and picked up outside the school gates. The school gates open at 9am and school finishes at 3:20pm. Please ensure that your child knows where to meet you at the end of the day. Parents are encouraged to phone or email the school if needed rather than attending in person.

Any child who has signs of illness MUST stay home.

Devices have been loaned to families who have internet but no device. Please take care of the devices carefully as they will be needed back at school eventually. If you have a device you will have received a loan agreement which needs to be read, signed and returned to school ASAP.

What a shame we could not have our fabulous Mother’s Day morning tea this week! We wish all of our mothers a VERY HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY with your family on Sunday and hope to see you all again soon.

Take care of each other and have a good week.

Your normal routine

If you don’t understand something, ask your teacher or classmates online.

Talking to your teachers and in class is different from how you speak to your friends online. Use proper grammar and avoid excessive emojis.

Take breaks away from screen. Move around and try not to sit all day.

Work in a quiet area, at a desk or table and try to limit distractions.

During calls with your teacher, stay focused on the call. Avoid reading chats or looking at other tabs.

Eat breakfast, brush your teeth and get dressed in the morning.
