I realize that it’s still a few weeks away, but I am planning on having our Valentine’s Day celebration on Wednesday, February 14th.

In keeping with Healthy Learning Academy’s mission to promote health and nutrition, please DO NOT send in sugary treats that day. Any healthy snacks, however, would be greatly appreciated! Fruit, granola, and even popcorn, would be more than welcome. If you’re feeling ambitious, we have binders full of healthy recipes located in the school’s kitchen, so feel free to look through those on your next visit.

The Week In Review Miscellaneous

SS: We just tested Ch. 2 on Thursday. Don’t forget that Explorer Mini-Book projects are due Monday!ELA: This week, we focused on character traits and contractions. Our prefix was “intra-.”Math: We are moving quickly through Ch. 6, and students seem to have a good grasp of multiplying and dividing decimals! Science: Our Ch. 3 test on the solar system will be next week! Word of the Week:Our word of the week was “harmony.” Harmony could be as simple as being happy, or it could be when groups of people work together in peace. I tend to think of harmony as a balance. It is important to find balance in our lives, in our minds, in our emotions, and in our work and play.

Middle School Shadowing

Please make sure to keep Mrs. Carr and myself aware of any days that your child will be absent due to middle school shadowing. I understand that this is important, but remember that we still have much to cover before the FSA. Students are responsible for the work that they miss during these days. If you let me know in advance, I’m more than happy to provide information on what will be covered during those missed days. Most importantly, encourage your child to seek me out in the morning or during recess so that I can provide extra help!

For Monday, students should neatly write and mark each of the following words with large, legible print on the index cards sent home today.
