The Theory and Practice of Tutoring WritingCurrently I offer this course every spring. The goal of the course is to prepare potential tutors of writing (Writing Center Tutors, Writing Fellows, and SAs) to effectively work with students to improve their writing.

Genre GuidesCurrently my students are engaged in an assignment called a genre guide. Individually or in small groups they are interviewing professors and students in fields with which they are not personally familiar about the kinds of writing required in that discipline. The students will then create short “guides,” meant as resources for tutors in the Writing Center. These are not meant to teach disciplinary conventions to student writers, but to help peer tutors know what to look for

Tuesday Teatime: 1:00-3:30pmCome enjoy some tea or coffee and snacks in the Writing Center. Talk through writing or just work quietly on your writing.

Faculty Fridays! 1:00-3:00pmThe writing center is open JUST to faculty and staff during these hours. Spend time in the company

Last Sunday from 11am-4pm, seniors gathered for timed writing sessions to make significant progress on their theses. We had students from Biology, Anthropology, Environmental Studies, Sociology and Politics in attendance.
