Dear Readers of TAN Hello everyone. Seniors! We only have one week of school left before study leave, then the rest of out lives. We need to keep out heads down and do our best to get the best grades we can in our exams. We had course selection earlier this week, where our Year 10 to Y12 students decided on the course of study they will take next year. Good luck everyone, study hard and keep up the good work. Kia Ora and Welcome to TAN Congratulations to all those who took part in the Hard Labour Weekend – whether by participating or marshal-ling. A good number of our younger children took part in the 5km run and 10km bike ride, as well as the older children in the 10km run and 16km bike ride. Also we had netball students and adults marshalling the kayak event; Snow Club and rowers on the running and biking events, as well as supporters of William and Zac marshalling events for their causes. It looked like a record number of competitors, so it was great to host them with manaakitanga, show them what a great part of the world we live in, and raise some money for our vari-ous local sports as well.
We have been celebrating Book Week this week with quizzes, swappa teacher reading, and last night, guests reading bedtime stories in the Library. About forty children and some adults joined in to hear Mr McKinney, Ms Rowland and Mr Feasey read stories, before a hot drink in the Staff Room and off to bed. Thanks to Mrs Povall for making the Library such a warm place to host this event, and help encourage book reading. The book theme will continue with other events this week, including a parade of storybook characters through Market Place just after 10am tomorrow morning (Friday). Children and older students; dress up as your favourite book character!
Room 4 are enjoying camp at Tekapo at the moment, with a full itinerary of activities planned, including kayaking on Lake Alexandrina, visiting Mt John Observatory, and biking in the forest. What fun! Room 5 is heading to their camp at Lake Middleton Wednesday to Friday next week, and I think it will in-clude a concert night, in addition to the traditional bonfire and outdoor activities.
Seniors please note; the external exams start on Thursday (9th November)! Time to pile on the prepara-tion. Teachers will continue teaching right up until exams start, and will be available by appointment to answer questions that arise as students study after that. Students who still have internal assessments outstand-ing will need to continue at school until they are done.

fifty pyjama clad children, along with parents, grandpar-
ents, and teachers, sat spellbound in the Library last
night, listening to an assortment of bedtime stories, read
by Colin McKinney, Renee Rowland and Bill Feasey. The
readings were followed by hot chocolate and biscuits in
the staffroom, and then contented children were
taken home to dream of an enchanted forest, a missing
